Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Opinions: What is a movie you genuinely like, that is rated below 60% on rotten tomatoes?
1·2 years agoMother Lode (1982)
A film about a man living alone and far away from civilization in a wooden hut, digging a mineshaft for years in search of gold. Very atmospheric and doesn’t have any of putting moments in my opinion, despite the rating.
When I wanted to rewatch it 10 years later it was so hard to find that I had to make a post on a movie buff forum with a vague description from memory because I forgot the title.

7·2 years agoSorry. I was misleading there. I edited it. The password is hashed and salted. I meant that admin can collect the password in plaintext only if they wanted to

8·2 years agoI didn’t look at Lemmy’s source but I’m pretty sure it is hashed. The thing is, password is hashed in the database only to protect users in case database gets hacked. But a bad admin of the server can always just change the code and nobody would know. When it comes to websites, open source doesn’t provide any additional security, since everything that happens on the server is a black box. I’m not an expert on this though. Correct me if I’m wrong

43·2 years agoIt’s not just upvotes and downvotes. Instance admin also knows your email and can store your password in plaintext if they want to. It’s up to user to decide whether to trust the instance admin

I actually reinstalled Minetest and have to say that I take my words back. It’s crude, but fun and playable. Everything is very off and I don’t know if it is because contributors don’t want to get copyrighted by Microsoft or that’s just how it was coded. Probably both
