Anime@ani.social•[Discussion] What is your most 'comfy' anime?English
1·6 days agoGlad to hear! I thought it was quite well known but clearly I’m in a bit of bubble when it comes to anime.

2·6 days agoI wouldn’t really call Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight comfy compared to other CGDCT anime, but it is very underrated indeed. It has some strong moments when the iyashikei really hits like when Mikan and Mei are on the roof.

Philosophy@lemmy.world•The Atheist’s Dilemma: The Search for Meaning Without the GodsEnglish
1·7 days agoEven though you are joking, cults are a danger when creating new religion-like movements. Also I would call myself an agnostic. I simply do not know, and do not care whether there is a god, no god, multiple gods, whether we live in a simulation or if I am a brain in a vat. I simply live according to what the universe around me seems to be to the best of my ability.

Philosophy@lemmy.world•The Atheist’s Dilemma: The Search for Meaning Without the GodsEnglish
2·7 days agoI don’t agree that some sort of religion is needed for meaning in life, but I certainly don’t think all the down votes are warranted.
For me, neither the existence of at least one god or the non existence of any gods has any impact on how I see the world and myself. You give this example of a man you respect and how he lived his life. If you were to live like him, but not quite belief in god, would that be meaningful to you? Or wouldn’t it?
At times I have been thinking about if one can make a religion without any belief in higher powers. Something a bit more complete than just a theory of ethics, also including some kind of rituals, habits, exemplary people, community and other things that are in decline alongside religion.
Good luck in your search!

3·8 days agoAlmost all anime I really like are super stereotypical comfy anime, picking one is very difficult. The most underrated is Hidamari Sketch in my opinion. ARIA is also extremely strong. Non Non Biyori is a classic. For a lesser known one I put forward Tanaka wa Itsumo Kedaruge. Apart from that most good CGDCT anime have a strong Iyashikei component to them are very comfy. Classics are Lucky Star, K-ON!, Azumanga Daioh and Ichigo Mashimaro. For more modern takes on this type of anime the newer Kirara anime such as Kiniro Mozaiku, Gochuumon wa Usagi desuka and Yuyushiki are popular under “comfy bros”.
If only Kiniro Mozaiku had as many seasons as Jojos… I’m slightly biased since I mod !kinmoza@lemmy.world
Namori sensei always keeps all the doors open doesn’t she.

Anime@ani.social•[Episode] GINTAMA - Mr. Ginpachi's Zany Class • 3-nen Z-gumi Ginpachi-sensei - Episode 4 discussionEnglish
1·10 days agoThis really reminds me of that early episode where gin and hiji were scared of the mosquito girl. Since gin invited the ghost maybe he’ll show up again.
The ink window is wonderful indeed!
That depends on the pen. I don’t own any Pelikan pens for example, but if I would buy one I would buy a vintage one. The material of the body seems nicer in pictures and videos and some of the old nibs have that vintage flex that the new ones just don’t. I think Pelikan M series is one of the most unchanging pens in history and even those have changed a bit. So whatever one you are talking about, I doubt the new ones are exactly like the vintage ones. So I don’t think you should buy a vintage one thinking it will be just like the new ones but potentially cheaper. You should buy either the vintage or the new one for the reason of liking one or the other more.

1·11 days agoI don’t watch this and just found out that it is running now with this post. The 1 minute long pilot episode thingy had Mikashi voicing the main girl which made me interested but now they have swapped her out into a lesser role? That’s too bad in my opinion. Maybe I’ll try watching episode one.
Cool website. It doesn’t rank manga but I guess the anime adaptation is similar. Kind of funny how Yuruyuri is one of the easiest anime even compared to other slice of life. I did read Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei but in English.
I want to read manga but I never get to it. I also have this feeling that if I read manga I should do it in Japanese but last time I tried it was still too difficult and very slow with looking up kanji. I have 10 Nichijou volumes in Japanese at home.
Also Ayano is doing her best Akari impression in the second panel.

Slice of Life Anime@lemmy.world•Even Yui in the Background is BlushedEnglish
2·13 days agoI had this in my queue for posting but I didn’t even see Yui et al. in the background!
Interesting to hear, I’m kind of the opposite. I re-watch this type of moments once in a while. The bitter sweet ones like the K-ON moment really get the heart going. And the sweet ones like the Gochiusa moment make me feel that there are good things in the world. Music is indeed very important to get the full iyashikei feeling.
Nice colours on this poster.

1·15 days agoZura being on standby is one of my favorite running gags.
I always love these panels and scenes where they lean on to each other and sleep. It’s just so cute. Other examples that come to mind is K-ON! after the concert and Gochiusa when Chino joins Cocoa and Mocha 🥰

The animation and art of Oomuro-ke is definitely a step up from Yuruyuri.
