Courtney (she/her/they)

Hello lovelies, I am a (trans)Woman who is still in the process of discovering herself!

I have been working up the courage to be who I am for so long, I am excited to be figuring things out.

Pre-HRT, pre-fashion-sense, and pre-confidence.

Any and all tips and advice from more experienced women are welcome!

I ALSO had to wait for every new episode of ds9 and voy. I wasn’t of watching-and-following age for most of tng. So I had to wait for re-runs. And hope they were aired in order since sometimes they only aired half a two-parter.

I need to get them moved over to my hard drive, I think I have all the dvds…

I’ve hosted some biking events with friends/youth groups/family and one thing I make clear is show up with a helmet or don’t show up at all. With the caveat that if you don’t have one, I have extras and will provide one if you need one, and I have bought helmets for people before because they couldn’t afford one.

I don’t care how you feel on your own rides, just wear a proper helmet. Or you don’t ride with me.

As for fashion, my partner and I have matching helmets that match our usual riding gear, and i made them a 3d printed unicorn horn to stick on their helmet that immediately got stuck on and now I have to promise to make a new one for every new helmet they get. Personalize your helmet and who cares if it’s fashionable.

I’ll add Voyager to that trek list.

And +1 for BSG, I’ve always loved the show. I actually just watched the first two episodes again this past week, but for the first time I decided to smoke some weed first.

Holy shit I get WAY more into the show when I’m baked… Like I was trying not to cry when the 60 FTL capable ships left the other 20ish behind and they focused on the little girl playing with her bear as the nukes detonated…

And hearing everyone go from a solemn, muttered “so say we all…” to a strong, purposeful “SO SAY WE ALL!

    chef’s kiss

I really like the bits of the Expanse I’ve seen. I absolutely love how realistic they portray space life, especially combat. After a few episodes I realized it was one long continued story, and the series was still being worked on, I lost all drive to finish it.

I’ll pick it back up eventually, it just feels like sitting down to watch a 200 hour movie, rather than a TV show.

I flipped my bike in 2016 and my helmet saved me twice, once when it hit the asphalt, once when my bike came over and smashed into the top.

Split it almost comically in half.

I kept it on my desk when I worked on bikes. Every single person who bought a bike got interrogated about whether they have a helmet. Every single person got the lecture on helmet safety. If they seemed iffy or unconvinced, I’ll ask them if they want this to be their skull instead. That convinced them every time.

Some people don’t think you need a helmet until you fucking need a hekmet. But then it’s too late.

Congrats o surviving the crash, make sure to replace ASAP! (though I doubt you need a reminder lol)

  • My plan is “I’ll probably be dead” but if not, I have enough parts to cobble together a solar charging station, and keep my laptop running for a few days between needing to let everything charge back up.

I have one off-site backup on an hdd inside a faraday bag and waterproof case that I back up once a week(ish) and after every project. I have local backups daily, one in a faraday box.

I have never once needed any of them and honestly if shit hit the fan hard enough, I will likely never be in a position where having backups for digital information will matter again. I’ll probably at most have my old phone/battery/solar charger combo that’s in a case in the garage, I keep a ton of survival references, maps, and things like that on it.

Suggested Addendum: nonbinary not allowed *so long as the NB currently has a-cup+ breasts and pronounced nipples.

The people who tend to have issues with nips are usually the kind to not care about flat chests, regardless of why that chest is flat (natural flatness or top surgery)

I say free them all. Stop getting hung up on who has boobs, nipples, flat, pronounced, who cares everyone has them and we all know what boobs look like. If you want to go topless, you should be allowed.

    Anecdote time!

My spouse and I are both trans, although we bother were in the closet and while I wouldn’t say I’ve ever been “conservative” I have definitely had some weird holdovers from growing up in a religious household.

I used to be very “Nobody else is allowed to see your nipples” in thought although I would never tell them to “cover up” no matter what I thought, as it’s their own body, not mine. Once they settled on NB, I was like “oh yeah then it’s fine… Wait why is it fine now but not yesterday” which was a fun bit of self-reflection lmao

Personally I think it shouldn’t matter and people need to get over the fact that, gasp most people have nipples, and gasp most of them are shaped differently, some more than others.

    Free the nips.

  • American here and I think your wording was spot on.

It WAS seen as a “shining beacon” by many around the world.

SEEN as. And as someone who was born here, I can assure you that many in the US absolutely know that is a facade at best.

The shell began cracking in other parts of the world decades ago (longer in places like Africa), but for most Europeans and the mostly un-terrorized-by-US-military countries, I think the turning point was “WMDs” in the early 00s. When every other “Major” country is either silent or outright saying “we have no Intel suggesting this” then you can’t really claim to have moral superiority, and once you see a liar as a liar, it’s all downhill from there.

“seen as” was absolutely the correct phrase, as it was only an illusion.
