I would piggyback on the people saying to get a PC, and think about building a home theater PC. You can use steam big picture mode to make it act like a console, but you can also use it for other things. You can even use steam’s streaming capabilities to stream to other devices on your network like your phone or laptop if you want to be elsewhere.

My wife has struggled with disordered eating, and it’s been a long journey for both of us. She is also tall and got to a really scary place. She’s doing much better now, but it continues to be a process. Keep up the great work and don’t give up!

I really love A Show of Hands by Rush. It’s one of my favorite of their eras, though I feel like the “synth era” isn’t as universally loved by fans

Gaming@beehaw.org•whats a game that you got significantly far into, only to realize you were doing something wrong or missing a key feature/ability altogether?
3·2 years agoYeah, it wasn’t until my second time starting the game that I took in any of the combat tutorials

Gaming@beehaw.org•I’ve fallen into a deep gaming rut lately. What helped “get you back into” gaming and rediscover the magic of video games?
3·3 years agoFor me after some time away from PC gaming, getting a steam deck was one thing that got me back into it. The other thing though was definitely selecting relatively short games. I played a lot of open-ended games that I could never finish like rimworld or crusader kings, it was nice to get back into games with a beginning middle and end. And in the same vein it means I’ve been playing stuff that I was interested in playing back in the 2010s but didn’t really have the time/money/hardware for

Betterment and Praxis@beehaw.org•Beehaw, what is your favourite thing about your town?
1·3 years agoI like the library, it has a pretty good board game collection, I’ve gotten some switch games out from there rather than dropping $60-70 on them, not to mention books, movies, audiobooks, museum discount passes, etc.
Also, it’s nice being back in a town with sidewalks, decent low-density roads around, local businesses nearby. A lot of my middle school/high school life was lived on a narrow hilly road with no shoulder that made it hard to get anywhere before I could drive.

6·3 years agoDo you think that a significant number of people who would benefit from some amount of student loan forgiveness are in this situation? Do you believe that it would be good to do nothing so that some undeserving people aren’t helped as well?

1·3 years agoI’m using it both for notes at work (software development) as well as a separate graph for my own thoughts, ideas, todos, pretty much everything. Using Syncthing to sync my graphs between devices works pretty well, though it’s had a bit of a learning curve in getting it set up.

I’ve been playing Dishonored 2 on my Steam Deck. Played the original for the first time and went through in a pretty non-stealthy high chaos way, so I’m trying to go for a low chaos playthrough here.
I also grabbed Cassette Beasts on sale, so I’ve put a few minutes into that and I’m enjoying the 3D with 2D sprites aesthetic that I loved so much in the NDS Pokemon game

Gaming@beehaw.org•Suggestions for slightly older AAA games for Steam Deck?
2·3 years agoI just played through Dishonored, which worked great! Also Assassin’s Creed 2 was a fun one to finally finish from the backlog. It was the first game I completed on the steam deck and enjoyed messing around with configuring the controls to take advantage of the touchpads (used the left one to select from the weapon wheel)
Where is Phantom Hourglass? I loved that game!

I’m pretty sure KDE neon is only meant for testing KDE applications and so isn’t guaranteed to be stable with anything but those packages. Other distros should be maintained with more general-purpose use in mind
