DACH - jetzt auf feddit.org@feddit.de•Das Ende vom offenen Reddit API - Wie werdet ihr zukünftig die unterschiedlichen Netzwerke nutzen?Deutsch

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there a federated YouTube alternative? If not, what are your other suggestions?English
1·2 years agoyeah, I fully understand that. I tried it a couple days ago for the first time and I’m still not sure what to make of it. However, I recently opened youtube on freshly installed PC recently and wasnt logged in… oh boy… all the the influencers influencing about nothing… the reaction videos about reaction videos… and why is everyone still poor when there is so much great advice out there to get rich? I hope Odysee allows to ignore all that crap over time… otherwise I wont stick around long either… we’ll see :)

4·2 years agoSomeone else already pointed towards odysee.com. However, I think it speaks volumes that the best video explaining the concept I found on youtube… even though the exact same creator has a channel on odysee.com as well.
However, there are a couple of youtubers also present on odysee, like “3Blue1Brown” or a bit more niche Jack Rhysiders podcast… think I’m going to test this over the couple of days/weeks for a bit

Interessant.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Anyone else notice that short videos are making their attention span worse?
3·2 years agomaybe our generation (if we’re even the same, lol) could just hide our boredom better :D But deep down we all needed that teacher who could keep us engaged… but who knows… :)

Reddit Migration@kbin.social•It feels a lot nicer here on lemmy / kbin
3·2 years ago100% agree… and not having to think about karma, which I didn’t really, but then still kind of did I think, feels really awesome

4·2 years agoyeah, that’s definitely a part. And it kind of feels good to try to help build something… though I’m far from the first bunch of people who started this

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Do you prefer x264 or 265 HEVC?English
1·2 years agoalso its not just pure “compatibility”, but I had a time when I played vids to my TV over an old laptop (from around 2015). Worked like a charm. But some x265 vids went into full-on stutter mode in scenes where a lot of stuff was happening… was more a nuisance than a dealbreaker, but still, preferred x264 versions if I could get them

2·2 years agoWithin the constraints of the job it might be impossible to implement any changes, but do you have any ideas how to keep students engaged for long term projects when they have these 2min-tik-tok attention spans? I’m asking as someone who sees this behaviour in younger colleagues that I try to educate as a senior… :D

Open Source Intelligence@lemmy.world•What are your favorite online sources for gathering open-source intelligence? Are there any specific websites, social media platforms, or tools that you find particularly valuable?English
1·2 years agoSo let’s get this party started here :D
I really love OpenStreetMaps Overpass API. I found the syntax a bit cumbersome at first, but since ChatGPT and the like it has become incredibly easy to write a query.

1·2 years agoBaconreader stopped working last week, so I took the time on the weekend to set this up… Very happy with the experience so far (don’t even need an app, using it in Firefox on mobile and saving it as an app is the perfect experience)

9·3 years agoThere is a LinusTechTips Video where they build a PC together (the guy from the original verge video) and he explained what happened. Have nothing but respect for that dude for doing that now…
