  • That first point I think really helps a lot on it’s own. I grew up poor (and still am pretty poor admittedly), and I was told to eat pretty much everything on my plate. Eating rice? Gotta eat every last grain. Mother burnt the frozen pizza rock solid? Had to eat it. Food you don’t like was for supper? You’re not leaving that table until you finish it.

    While my parents would use the “kids in Africa” line, something that arguably hit me more was my Nana comparing things to our ancestors during the Depression.

    I’ll see what I can do about containers next time around. I might also ask them about how to give away leftovers to people near the nearby shelter.
