@Quittenbrot
And where would you draw their borders?
The past has vanished.
The present is infinitely small.
The future is infinitely variable.
…for every point in the infinite universe.

Let’s give our heads a shake, regularly. Sweep out the cobwebs of ideology, cultivate #CriticalThinking.
None of us is 100% right, nor 100% wrong. Each of us is a grain of sand in a world of knowledge.

@Quittenbrot
And where would you draw their borders?

@Quittenbrot @Aqarius
“more part of the problem than of the solution”
What is the solution in your view?

@luciferofastora
Sure. 👍 Keep the accounts for that reason but make them secondary & obvious mirrors to their official accounts.
That said, I think it’s too complete an idea (not just the Fedi server but the entire comprehensive & inter-compatible EU IT ecosystem) & EU logic is typically particulate (too many cooks imo), so I don’t see anything like this happening for a long time.

@luciferofastora @NorskSud
Is it such a radical idea that the EU, Parliament + Commission, should have its own Fedi server to base ALL its public discussions & comms on, with easily locatable layers & sub-layers for departments & offices + for nations, regions & municipalities, & even for citizens & the European public?
X, Fb, Insta etc. should all at best be clones/bots, so they wouldn’t lose audience but the audience would know where they come from + exactly how/where to contact s/o.

@HocSunt @Pip
Sounds a bit like “#Insurance” today. :ablobcool:

@NorskSud @GardenGeek
Countries don’t.
Countries’ LEADERS do.
And that makes the *countries* that much easier to extort and compromise.

@Gorilladrums @kossa
“IF their claim to asylum was genuine AND they aren’t causing real harm to the host society.”
So, logically, if the “IF” condition is True and the “AND” condition is False, they maintain their rights to asylum. 🤷
“Moral arguments” are subjective. (Especially in this thread. 😏) “Send them to certain death” & “All humans have rights” can both claim subjective moral rectitude. 🤷

@CanadaPlus @plyth
So in other words ALL Americans are now bombing schools & arming genocide.

@gravitas_deficiency @skepller
Exactly.
And continuing to imagine the US is on Europe’s side is essentially Stockholm Syndrome at this point.

@wuzzlewoggle @Reznik
👍 I fear the best we’ll be able to do is everyone switch off all #WorldCup games played in the US.
I will, anyway.

@balsoft
He hasn’t though. Either verbatim or not. He’s been sabre-rattling & playing war games around Taiwan.
When has he actually approached the Taiwan govt with any respectable offer of long-term cooperation?

@balsoft @pixeltree
Xi could *substantially* improve his global reputation if he opted for a cooperative approach to relations with #Taiwan. They have been at loggerheads for decades because their govt systems & economies have been very different, but it’s China that is now evolving closer to Taiwan’s market-economy model. But they could be more inspired in establishing a more cooperative political model.
Either way, it is for the Taiwanese to choose their destiny.

@Bob @Beep
Should have done that decades ago already!
Unfortunately “as soon as possible” for the #EU @euparlament generally means many years of procrastination.

@Dojan @NotAnonymousAtAll
Thanks, I’ve been looking for this!!

@Muffi @Novocirab
Same. This applies to EVERY non-US country!!
I can’t believe that the EU, France, UK, Spain, Italy etc. do not have their own comprehensive Fedi servers for their own institutions, govt departments & citizens! ALL still relying on US tech.
@CyberEgg @HaraldvonBlauzahn
I lost a friend to head injury in a bike accident a month ago. (Hit by a car.)
I don’t know what state I would be in now if I hadn’t been wearing a helmet the numerous times I’ve come off.
Exposed rider of ANY vehicle using a road or a bike lane should wear a helmet. Like car seatbelts, this should be law.
