Pectus excavatum. I have a (fortunately) mild case myself, not as extreme as the photo. Somewhat a source of embarrassment.

I’m loving the infancy as well. Finally get to be a part of something from early on (ish) lol. Patience is my intention here. I have very low standards and just scroll most of the time. Any friends I made on Reddit, I have subsequently connected with through other apps so none of that is lost. I’ll keep my Reddit account as a monument to all the posts I made and karma I got. Occasionally I’ll go read through the communities I joined that I miss, but that’s it, occasionally. That’s about how often I truly engaged anyway. Anything I actually needed from them is available elsewhere, like YouTube, or by going out and meeting people.

World News@beehaw.org•Reddit CEO: We're Sticking With API Changes, Despite Subreddits Going DarkEnglish
21·3 years agoAgreed. I replaced the Reddit app icon in my launcher with the one for Lemmy (Jerboa). 98% of the time I’m just mindlessly scrolling and looking at images or memes and occasionally the interesting article. So far, even the minimal content on Lemmy (and Instagram and Tumblr) has filled that need.
Probably two or three times now I’ve pulled up Reddit specifically to look something up, and that just says to me how often I actually engage with the communities there that matter to me. Reddit will no longer be getting hundreds of hits per day from me. If I need to look something up, maybe I’ll go look, and hopefully the communities I joined, like guitar, motorcycles, ADHD, pizza, and other niche interests, will develop elsewhere.

9·3 years agoI agree with you about the communities and forums. Those take years to develop, even with promising options like Lemmy. Reddit became so popular there was a niche community for literally anything you can imagine. I hope the enthusiasm carries over and develops elsewhere/here.

15·3 years agoI hope the devs from the third party apps that Reddit is murdering are able to get similar/better jobs elsewhere. Maybe the dev teams whose platforms are now getting flooded with Reddit refugees could use the help.
