politics @lemmy.world•Exclusive | Anti-rich DSA leader Gustavo Gordillo lives it up in posh $1.5M NYC pad paid for by millionaire parentsEnglish
6·20 hours agoWhy are NYPost links allowed? Might as well post Fox News’ partisan bullshit as well.
I don’t think we need to state the policy and fiscal ideology of the DSA on the left leaning digital space that makes up a significant portion of Lemmy.
The post will print anything their owners tell them to, regardless of integrity, rigor, or truth.
We all know that the billionaires are pressing their bought and paid for politicians to smear the DSA in any way they can. The dem establishment is scared, and are willing to stoop to the level of the republicans in order to maintain their controlled opposition. They’re relying on the general populace being too stupid and lazy to seek out what the DSA actually advocates for.
Shame on @LT_Columbo@feddit.online for posting this garbage. You are an unscrupulous class traitor. Do better.

1·3 days agoSmall <5 location “mini chains”, that have somewhat frequent promotions. One I know of locally is a Mexican restaurant that has drink menu’s that change often enough to try to keep people coming in. Could also be different lunch combos, etc. Obviously this is more of a thought experiment than a real world solution. If such a solution was attempted to be made a reality, it would offer the option to different sorts of promos, combos or specials (seasonal, holidays).
A few restaurants I’ve been to lately have UV printed plastic menus, that we can safely assume are tossed by staff when new prints come in.
Or maybe this is all garbage, and I’ve wasted a few minutes of my night bullshitting. Surge pricing would be a despicable thing, that might be the end result, or not. Who knows. I doubt any spot would take advantage of such a system, since a QR code to a collection of compressed scanned pages would be the path of least effort for the establishment.
Sometimes exploring something silly is fun to do.

That is so rough. It makes me wonder how acceptance of us, especially in conservative religious societies, can even happen. Fervent faith seems to be found in the least empathetic of us

Yes, I’m a terrible person.
It’d be easier for me to just delete the post. However, there have been many thoughtful replies that would be a shame to lose. A select few have taken this as a personal attack, or somehow an ableist assault. I am sorry that they feel that way, but not sorry for asking a question of narrow-minded people.
Call me what you like. This is the internet, it doesn’t matter.

13·4 days agoI am a lay person when it comes to comics, so feel free to tear me apart here. Could Bruce Banner potentially be all 3? His DNA was able to absorb the gamma radiation (born with it), he then had the radiation thrust upon him, and then he did whatever he did to make himself the smart hulk?
A bit of a reach, I know.
Not on it. I’m asking a question to the narrow minded individuals, not those that have allergies/sensory issues. Maybe don’t take things so serious?

3·4 days agoThat’s fair. I appreciate your responses. Digital menus at the table would definitely be an interesting solution to somewhat frequent changes. A minority report style menu would be a novel experience, one that would draw business in for sure. Exploding a view of a sushi roll, seeing the individual ingredients, with descriptions that could include allergen, contamination, or even sensory warnings could be a pretty cool experience.
I am one of the antisocial peeps out there that enjoy the solitary experience; I suppose it is foreign to me that others would actually desire the interaction with others.

5·4 days agoWould a better design or implication change your mind? Many menus are printed on plastics these days, or paper that is thrown in the trash rather than recycled. An eco-friendly argument could be made in favor of the QR code. As in, if a new item or promotion is going on, a simple digital change would obviate reprinting sections of the menu, or even the entire thing.
Also, with the near ubiquity of square or other similar cash register systems these days, the amount of tracking involved might be similar to that of what a mobile menu system would be.

3·4 days agoThe restrooms at my workplace can get down right nasty. We get a ton of temp workers (I started out as a temp), and they are given very short breaks from the assembly line. At least 20% do not wash their hands. People carry on phone conversations and scroll TikTok in the stalls. The seats, after their breaks, are usually pretty gross. The floors around the toilets get very gross by the end of their shift.
I loathe that spironolactone makes me thirsty, and in turn makes me need to urinate somewhat often. My hovering game is on point though.

Pretty standard stuff. Make the building, then stand it up. It’s how buildings are made.
