Games@lemmy.world•Statement on Stop Killing Games - VIDEOGAMES EUROPEEnglish
2·6 months agoIt was a long time ago, but I thought I heard Steam would remove their DRM and the games would not require authentication.
Though I doubt you would be able to redownload anything if their servers shut down though.

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•I actually won something from a claw machineEnglish
2·7 months agoThe prizes were stacked higher than the claw and I moved the claw behind a group and whipped the joystick like I was whisking batter.
It was similar to this but faster.

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•I actually won something from a claw machineEnglish
4·7 months agoVery nice. I’m assuming you won it the legit way. The last one I won, I swung the arm around really fast and knocked a prize down the chute.

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•I boiled eggs for breakfast.English
4·8 months agoThe method I like to use is to shock them in ice which allows greater cooking control and makes the shell easier to peel.
Add the eggs to a pot first then fill with cold water till they’re all submerged. Bring the water to a boil while the eggs are in and then take the pan off the heat to let the eggs finish cooking. The longer you let them sit in the hot water, the harder the egg is boiled. Then put them in an ice bath for a minute and ready to go. The recipe below says to crack them before putting them in ice, but I’ve never done that.

I’m assuming it means to make Trump more appealing over other candidates to Republicans during their primary so he was the front runner. How she did that, I’m not sure.

Math Memes•New Matt Parker video on Trump's tariff equationEnglish
16·9 months agoSummary: The administration wanted to put blanket tariffs on everyone (minus Russia) and used bad faith math to justify their actions.
Countries who provide a trade surplus (buy more from America then they sell them) are getting tariffed as well.
By their own math, all goods will average a 10% inflation in price.
This is literally my primary use of notepad.

36·9 months agoGabe Newell believes piracy is a result of inferior service or access. I believe the original poster is stating that piracy has become the answer here because it’s the only place to find this media.
I’m sorry, we’re currently in the process of dismantling the USPS. Please feel free to have some user data. We’re not sure if it’s really yours or not since our authentication procedures have been reduced. I’m sure you have the best intentions. Good day.

DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•Request: Google Meet AlternativeEnglish
10·9 months agoI think this is the answer. Thanks for your recommendation. I’ll test this out soon. It seems to check all the boxes and I found this website providing good reasons to use it.
The reasons I prefer Jitsi Meet to Zoom include the following:
- no subscriptions are required to use all the features of Jitsi Meet;
- unlike Zoom, Jitsi Meet does not require you to sign up;
- unlike Zoom, Jitsi Meet does not require the installation of an application — it runs in Google Chrome or Firefox;
- unlike the free version of Zoom, Jitsi Meet does not impose a time limit on the length of the meeting;
- unlike the free version of Zoom, Jitsi Meet does not have a limit on the number of meeting attendees;
- Jitsi Meet provides end-to-end encryption for one-to-one video calls*;
- I find the performance of Jitsi Meet better than Zoom, which seems to be corroborated in basic benchmarking by Jitsi Meet’s developers (‘WebRTC vs. Zoom – A Simple Congestion Test‘);
- I find image quality better in Jitsi Meet;
- I find Jitsi Meet on a desktop/laptop more intuitive and easier to use than Zoom;
- if I share audio in Zoom for Linux, the audio is very distorted**;
- I find the UI of the Jitsi Meet app for Android easy to use (the app can be installed via Google Play);
- Jitsi Meet is open-source, so anyone can inspect the source code;
- if I wanted to, I could download the Jitsi software to my own server and set up a Jitsi Meet server to handle meetings instead of using the Cloud server provided by 8×8, Inc. (the company that develops the Jitsi Meetings software).

Is this good news? 🤔
