100 percent natural is the best, and it’s not bitter at all. Or cardboardy.

4·2 years agoThat’s cute. But there is software that only runs on Windows. And some people have to use it.

Gaming@beehaw.org•whats a game that you got significantly far into, only to realize you were doing something wrong or missing a key feature/ability altogether?
7·2 years agoIn Hollow Knight I didn’t learn the stab down feature and by the time I found that out I couldn’t go back to learn it.

Beehaw Support@beehaw.org•Moderation Philosophy - On Content Removal
1·2 years agoAn excellent example of very sneaky misinformation was an article in the Guardian the other day, which kept talking about 700,000 immigrants. Since 350,000 of those are foreign students, that is a blatant lie. Foreign students aren’t immigrants.

Technology@beehaw.org•Amazon named its “labyrinthine” Prime cancellation process after Homer’s IliadEnglish
2·2 years agoI just cancelled mine and noticed that on the app it’s really easy to find, but when you click on it it gives you an error without an explanation. Then when you open Amazon in a browser (where you can cancel without the error) it’s much harder to find. Definitely deliberate.

Technology@beehaw.org•There's More to the Reddit Meltdown Than Meets the Eye
15·2 years agoForums are the best thing about the internet. It’s where like-minded people can talk without being interrupted by “suggested posts” and crap like that. Unless you’re on Reddit.

12·3 years agoFederation isn’t like email at all. I don’t know why people keep saying that. You’ll never get a message saying “we’re not receiving email from this server today” unless something has gone horribly wrong.
Email also doesn’t hang with a green loading circle for hours when you try to log in.

Literature@beehaw.org•What do you use to track your reading?English
1·3 years agoMy memory is terrible (thanks, Covid), but I will definitely be able to tell someone if I’ve read a book or not. No list required. Don’t ask me what it was about, though.
Memory loss has its advantages, I can read the same book a bunch of times and it’s like I’ve never read it before.

Literature@beehaw.org•What do you use to track your reading?English
4·3 years agoNothing. Why should I track my reading? I read for fun, tracking it would take the fun right out of it and turn it into some kind of competition. I’m not at school anymore.

Technology@beehaw.org•YouTube tests blocking videos unless you disable ad blockersEnglish
8·3 years agoIf I wanted to watch 15 minutes of ads in a 45 minute video, I’d just get cable. I’m happy to watch 1 or 2 ads before a video. That’s it. So I use an app that can even remove promotions.
