This must be making the rounds since the McSweeney’s bit came out earlier this month.
Finest piece of satire I’ve seen in awhile!

3·6 days agoThat was hilarious, more so I think because I had no idea what the premise was and had to figure it out on the fly.
Instant fan. Thanks for sharing!
They may not be hauling them in around my area anymore but it’s only because they still have them from the 90s.

I checked a few and all of them have slowed down in the last year or so. Not sure why, but I miss them.

2·10 days agoHey this is a pretty cool tool! I’m glad I came across it in c/All just now.
I don’t have any weird cable stories than I can think of right now, but I do find it odd sometimes when a device will only charge with a USB-A to C cable and not a USB-C to C. You’d think more power capability wouldn’t be an issue but turns out it can be.
I noted your AI-weeder-outer line and went looking for evidence in the replies but didn’t find any. So far so good :D
It looks like it to me, based on past photos.

Is Lemmy on a Robocop kick atm?
I just watched the movies again last week for the first time since they came out. I’ve seen at least one Robocop post per day this week but four in the top 30 on All tonight alone.
At first I thought I had a bad case of Baader-Meinhof syndrome, but I feel like there’s another Lemmy thing going on.

Television@piefed.social•What TV series bungled a great concept that you'd like to see tried again?English
8·22 days agoWayward Pines. Great concept but then they basically explained everything in a handful of episodes and took the whole mystery out of it. Also, some of the acting was terrible.

monsters.
It corrects for those mistakes and sustains the mystery.
Another one I’d like to see redone or relaunched, West World. Incredible first season. Nothing left in the writer’s tank after that. That first season was so good though that I don’t think it can be rebooted.

So many great one-liners.

And I might as well just link to the quotes page because there’s too many.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do I keep a 9 year old from constantly licking erasers and putting them in his mouthEnglish
15·3 months agoLong shot but it could be a sign of iron deficiency. Eating, smelling and licking odd things like paper, erasers, I’ve heard of these associations. I even read about a woman who would spend her lunch hour smelling the concrete in the stairwell. Turned out to be iron deficiency.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there an actor you can't stand? Do they have any exceptions?English
8·4 months agoCame here for this. Yes, not a good person in real life from what I’ve read.
Also, terrible, wooden in so many movies. And yet, perfectly played his role in The Departed. So much so that I didn’t think it could be him at first.

Such a great movie.
“Dying slowly in America after all, can be a very expensive proposition.”
I always thought that was a notable line for a Canadian actor to deliver.
