Reddit Migration@kbin.social•[REPOST] How to Delete your Reddit Account and All Data under GDPR/CCPA
4·2 years agoNear the bottom, this article says the exact opposite of its headline - that Reddit is restoring deleted data, even if it should be legally deleted. ☹️

3·2 years agoReplace the abortion issue with guns and you get another set of voters who will vote Republican regardless of what they might personally feel.
The funny part is, Trump suggested to take away guns first, and do due process second - and these 2nd Amendment goobers still voted for him.

2·2 years agoBeing in jail does not disqualify him, unfortunately. Only an impeachment would do that, and Republicans would stand fast against that.
Done-zo. Viva Lemmy and @seahorse@midwest.social !
These things are definitely worth a donating to, as I do with my Mastodon instances.

1·2 years agoWe currently have a $2.8 Trillion surplus, but that will run out around 2034 unless something is done. Well, if we get past the Baby Boomer generation, Generation X is much smaller, and will strain the system less, letting the fund build back up. But you’re right - something needs to be done in the next 10 years.

1·2 years agoOne easy way to fund Social Security forever is to raise or eliminate the cap on social security tax.
Currently, with the cap, people making more that $160k are paying less of a percentage of Social Security Tax than poor people.
The tax burden of Social Security tax should be the same on rich and poor alike, even if the rich don’t use it much. Remove that cap - instant funding, and Social Security works forever. The only thing stopping it is our priorities in DC: apparently we want the poor to pay & suffer more the rich.

3·2 years agoLet me get this straight. You don’t consider 3 or 4 times the national median household income “wealthy”? National median household income is about $62k.
It’s pretty rare for a couple to have two specialized degrees like what you’re mentioning.

Hi there, folks - I’m Scott Starkey, a software developer and part-time magician living in Indiana. I’m not a big fan of the stuff that Reddit is doing, so I thought I’d explore other options.
I’m also available on Mastodon with a bevy of accounts:
We seem to be lacking some communities that I’d like to see on Lemmy, specifically #Magic, #Esperanto, #GameDevelopment, and maybe #Freemasonry. Maybe I’ll volunteer to set those up, once I figure out all the stuff.
Edit to say, I found an Esperanto forum: !Esperanto@sopuli.xyz

They made it 1/10th of a century. So far, so good, right?
