Self hosting is a fun hobby. I set Nextcloud up for myself and love it! If you’re just getting in, I would look at a “NUC”-like mini pc to run services on. They are a bit more expensive, but you get better performance.

I learned a whole lot out of college from the “Choose FI” podcast. Listened to it while commuting to work. Go to their website and look up their recommended watch order and go from there. They have a lot of good ideas to get started.

Something that I think is frequently overlooked is approval voting! Why have a single transferable vote when a voter would be happy with more than one candidate?
