I didn’t check but “dissenting opinions” can easily just be manipulative disinfo that will direct the least intellectually competent one way or another. No, takes that are close to reality are valid and useful, and attitudes that are prosocial and virtues are the only ones worth having, everything else is incomplete/trash.

Idk what you said in those online spaces, I didn’t click the links, honestly, so don’t think I’m coming for you personally. But two things are not the same just because they’re in the same category (sure, poop IS edible but it’s not the same as spaghetti bolognaise), and takes and attitudes aren’t all worth the same, and I’d rather have a “closed community” of diverse righteous folks sharing things competently truthfully than have to share it with amoral beasts and the offensively mentally challenged.

I do this mostly/only with customers and some co-workers but if you’re my friend/loved family member and your ignorance can lead you away from virtue, you’re getting an earful (and you better be grateful I took my time to educate you, as I would’ve been had you done the same for me).

The opposite actually, it’s the only way to avoid unnecessary clashes because some people have temper tantrums when their half-baked ideology is challenged. 🤷

Those who take the responsibility of caring for society’s newest members should be given more leeway/support in many areas, not just employment. I don’t have kids (yet, God willing), I’m just not unempathetic/extremely self-centered/nihilistic. We do live in a society, after all.

TBF, free will is a thing. A friend of mine back in my army days intentionally fell down the stairs not to be deployed to “protect French interests in West Africa”. So either they’re “suckers” or they’re okay murdering innocents across the world for money.

They’ll either die and be judged for their sins up until now (it might be their first deployment and they might have no blood on their hands yet) or accumulate more of them and cement their position in Hell. Hopefully, they just all die/become unable to continue their invasion ASAP, it’s better for them.

I’m tired of seeing this nonsensical argument too often on Lemmy so here it goes:

Ofc. I love some things about Kanye, the things that make his music just straight bops and his lyrics so fun and ridiculous at times, and I hate other things that are not related to his art. I know his weird anti-“Semitic” (Polish/Ukrainian people are not Semites but Anglo/Western cultures find any reason to hate other people, lol) rants are off-putting at the very least but I don’t know what that part of him has to do with “Flashing Lights” or “Guilt Trip”, they’re completely unrelated.

Now, when the art is a reflection/in praise of the artists’ ideology and takes, and those are morally and/or intellectually fucked, and you liked them, then that certainly says something negative about you. You can love or hate that one painting by Hitler and it would say nothing about you, but if you enjoy Mein Kampf you’re an immoral dummy, certainly.
