Kombucha Brewing@sh.itjust.works•Cinnamon Apple Kombucha 🍂English
2·3 months agoAhh a stick of cinnamon. That’s a much better idea than the recipe I tried that had ground cinnamon in it. It was so awful, so grainy. I ended up just throwing it out.
I’m going to have to give this a try!
I love Outer Wilds. I’ll never forgot the moment of resignation when the all too familiar music starts playing only to realize, Oh no, it’s quite different this time.
The DLC though… not for me. It’s like a completely different game, different genre, with the only thing in common being the looping. I started feeling like such a chore that I just installed some mods to blaze through it and at least see the conclusion.
Yeah… The number of times I’ve heard something along the lines of “the sunscreen is worse for you than the sunburn” is too many.
Yes! Alexandria!

Linux@lemmy.world•LibreOffice 24.8.4, optimised for the privacy-conscious user, is available for download - The Document Foundation BlogEnglish
1·1 year agoThis, 100%.
I recently started using Linux as my daily driver and I needed to make a step-by-step procedure with screenshots for a client, so I figured I would create a document in Writer and export it as a PDF.
It was constantly hanging every time I would insert a couple of images and I would have to kill it and lose my progress to get it to close.
In the end, I ended up creating the file using Google Docs and it went as smooth as can be

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•This AMD RX 7800 XT might be the best graphics card value right now: $429, plus two free games
2·1 year agoAre there incompatibilities or performance issues?
I’m planning on upgrading in the near future and start messing with stable diffusion and other AI projects and I’m running Linux (I use Arch, btw) so I was leaning towards AMD instead of Nvidia.

Graphene OS users, what options are available for backing up your phone? I tried looking for an answer but wasn’t able to find anything recent on this topic.
I want to try it but this is the one thing holding me back.
I’m worried I’m not going to see that guy chase his wife around with a lobster for the 11th year.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you got COVID and lost the ability to taste things, did it ever come back? Otherwise, did you experience any other long term consequences from the pandemic in general?
6·2 years agoLost my sense of smell and taste for about three weeks but then it went back to normal.
I didn’t have any other symptoms and didn’t realize I had COVID until I tried smelling some freshly blended horseradish and couldn’t smell anything, but man did it still burn the nostrils. Would not recommend.
I have a friend that also had it and lost smell and taste for a month or two and it’s mostly come back, but coffee tastes disgusting to him now.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What has been the biggest surprise about getting older?
9·2 years agoI saw that change happen with my boss.
He got an iPhone 3G when it came out and then every year when Apple would release a new phone he HAD to have the latest one as soon as it came out.
Once Apple released the iPhone X he changed his tune and got fed up with the UI changing around and unfamiliarity and decided to stick with his 8 and whatever version of iOS until he was forced to replace it.

Exactly. I wanted a pickup for the convenience of the bed for the occasional project I might work on but 98% of the time it will just be me in there going to and from work.
I ordered my hybrid Maverick September 2022 and it’s finally scheduled for production. On the one occasion every year or two that I need the power of a full size pickup, I’ll just borrow it or rent some from Home Depot for a few hours.

I’m guessing Proof of Work.
