  • I have found it really useful for helping resolve interpersonal conflict, such as with partners or friends or so on. Also I think it would be useful to help with internal conflicts as well. Dialectical behavioural therapy is a type of psychotherapy for example that is supposedly very effective for personality vulnerabilities, although this might not be materialist specifically. I’m not knowledgeable on the topic but it’s quite interesting.

  • IMO this article is kind of misrepresenting what this story is actually about for the purposes of fitting it into the global “China bad” narrative. It’s a domestic political issue about corruption of state level politics, really not anything of interest to a global audience. There was clearly a wide range of aspects to the corruption but the most significant aspect was pork barrelling and misallocation of government grants. None of the domestic reporting in Australia is telling this as a “China bad” story, despite the fact that Australian media absolutely loves telling “China bad” stories. That should tell you something I think.

  • Can you be precise please? what exactly is this “lgbtq lobby”? what is their “agenda”? What founding principles of civilization are being held in disdain? Are you referring to the patriarchal gender roles which confines women to the home and being baby factories? That seeks to remove they’re reproductive rights and bodily autonomy? Or the idea that there is only two correct expressions of gender identity and anything falling outside of this binary is somehow degenerate? Why don’t you speak frankly, what are you referring to specifically?

“The question always comes down to how do we stop people from being bad.” This is the problem with not having a materialist analysis of the world, its not about being bad or being good or morality at all. At large people are motivated by self interest, perpetuating and sustaining their material conditions. Its only through struggle of the oppressed against those in power that change can come about.

  • hugely appreciative of this effortpost comrade. that’s pretty interesting the thing about China not being able to contribute to policing of the rule and as such not wanting to entrust this entirely to the west. while I always want to learn two sides to the story and err on the side of trusting China over the west, I guess it doesn’t always mean everything they do is defensible or the “morally correct” path as well. I’m not so dogmatic that I will refuse to acknowledge China doing something I disagree with even if I support China on the whole. Not saying that’s necessarily the case in this situation though, its too hard to say without more information available.
