  • That is exactly the kind of hivemind/culty bullshit that is what people hate about reddit, that there’s basically just a cool kids club that doesn’t actually follow any rules with any consistency, and just acts as a kind of Mean Girls squad, exiling and censoring people … basically for annoying them or making fools of them.

Its middle school mentality. Vibes based moderation. Censorship by popularity contest, where only the cool kids get to vote on that.

You could easily be referring to all the people raging about ‘the tankie triad’ with this.

The vast majority of the time I look at someone complaining about getting censored on .ml they were either being bigoted or insulting people.

As for vibes based moderation and censoring people for actions in other places, I got banned from quokk.au by their admin for ‘brigading’ because I cross-linked to a db0 thread complaining about the OPs mod actions. ‘brigading’ is nowhere in the site rules for quokk.au as far as I’m aware. I am also the only person to have ever been banned by quokk.au in this way so far.

I was banned for ‘homophobia’ by OP because I complained about his post having a misogynistic title.

You are literally the one defending a powermod who bans people in retaliation, because they got banned from one comm that they clearly despise for being a toxic asshole.

I said it’s a Marxist/anarchist space, and you asked “what about libertarian socialists/communists”

I cast a pretty wide net, who are you including in libertarian socialists/communists that isn’t covered by the description Marxist/anarchist?

  • I should hope they’re not independent, it’s the same axis.

The x axis is reform vs revolution, this is independent from the question of who directs the authority, which is the y axis.

the original political compass allows for people, who are in favor of a dictatorship of capital and are opposed to changing it, to portray themselves as various degrees of ‘libertarian’ or even ‘left’. They are anything but in my opinion.

I don’t think authority can be separated from context of political economy, as it is in the original one. If anything splitting those up like they’re independent variables is muddying the waters.

  • ‘Democracy’ can mean liberal freedoms such as those, or it can mean participatory decision-making.

My plot isn’t defining democracy as ‘free press’, it’s defining democracy structurally as distributed authority among many actors.

A system can restrict certain freedoms and still be structurally decentralized, just as a system can guarantee civil liberties while keeping power concentrated. The point was more to clearly identify where authority resides, not evaluating whether a system meets liberal-democratic standards.

The question of who is subject to authority is something obfuscated in the original meme template that I was aiming to correct.
