  • I’m sorry you lost your first bun. Sounds like you really loved and cared for him well. REWs are so misunderstood and I’m happy yours is getting used to you, some buns just take a while to get comfortable around humans. They are such sweet little creatures, although my young boy is going through his terrible twos right now 😩🙃

I love all pets, but there is something truly special about earning the love and trust of a prey animal whose every instinct is to run and hide. They really are something special.

  • My first bunny passed away in January. He was the first pet I had as an adult who was strictly my responsibility and no one else’s. A rabbit’s lifespan is typically 8-12 years old. My gray boy lived until he was just a few weeks shy of 13 years old.

I’m proud I took such good care of him and proud he stuck around so long. I still miss my fella a lot, but I’ve used what he taught me to adopt and care for 2 rescue rabbits; one who was dropped at a shelter when she was 3 and another young guy who was found dumped in a parking lot. They are going to be just as spoiled as my grey boy was.

  • Red Mars, but not for the reason you are asking.

My mom bought the paperback edition for me when I was 9 years old, when I was first started reading sci-fi books (thank you Animorphs for that intro). It was my first real “adult book” and it’s been knocking around in my collection for 32 years, moved with me across the US, and various other moves. It’s probably the one book that has been in my collection the longest. I didn’t read it until I was in my early 30s and I enjoyed it. I read Green Mars too, but I need to finish the trilogy.

I am interested in his Ministry of the Future book and I’ll read it at some point.

  • I adopted some large beautiful succulents over the weekend. I am moving some of my other plants to the front courtyard with the new ones since the sun doesn’t hit our backyard right at the moment.

Now I get to figure out how I want to arrange them for the winter months. A couple smaller ones fit in an unused water fountain and I kind of like that look, but I do need to find some other items to decorate a bit 😁

Edit: I had some gorgeous morning glory plants that were winding up a wooden structure in the backyard. It was so pretty, but the plant got a bad case of spider mites while I was on vacation and I had to cut it all down to avoid the spread. Just means more plant pots to play with now 🤣
