It’s not blurred, but the UI for Showtime (GNOME Video Player) looks pretty similar with the edge to edge video playback and transparent controls overlay: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/showtime

Seconding ZeroWater filters. They’re black magic. Fast, convenient, and the taste I get in my espresso is miles better than any Brita filter.
Pretty much any distro will work for gaming these days. Really up to personal preference. I use Arch but have heard good things about Pop!_OS.
Very well said. Thank you very much for your help. I wouldn’t have known to check the ownership issues or if GDM were properly running Wayland were it not for your help. I’ll reach out to the GNOME devs on the relevant repositories and see if they might be able to point me in the right direction. Thank you for your time and expertise.
Yes. Here’s the contents I currently have in
/var/lib/gdm/.config/monitors.xml:<monitors version="2"> <configuration> <layoutmode>physical</layoutmode> <logicalmonitor> <x>0</x> <y>0</y> <scale>1</scale> <primary>yes</primary> <monitor> <monitorspec> <connector>DP-1</connector> <vendor>SAM</vendor> <product>Odyssey G93SC</product> <serial>HNTW700164</serial> </monitorspec> <mode> <width>5120</width> <height>1440</height> <rate>239.997</rate> </mode> <colormode>bt2100</colormode> </monitor> </logicalmonitor> <disabled> <monitorspec> <connector>HDMI-1</connector> <vendor>FUN</vendor> <product>Evanlak8K V2</product> <serial>0x00006410</serial> </monitorspec> </disabled> </configuration> </monitors>The disabled dummy plug is the “Evanlak8K V2” device while my functional monitor is my Samsung Odyssey OLED G9. This config is the same as the one currently running on my GNOME desktop config, but in GDM still defaults to the enabled dummy plug, even with the fixed ownership.
At this point, do you think I should issue a report on GDM’s repository? Maybe the devs there would have more insight
Just checked the ownership of the monitor config, it was
gdm:root, so I changed the ownership togdm:gdmand rebooted. Still facing the same issue.Didn’t see any error messages in the logs about not being able to load wayland, but just to confirm, I ran
loginctl show-session {gdm session id} -p Typewhich returnsType=wayland, so it’s definitely running under wayland. I have an AMD GPU though so I wouldn’t expect there to be any problems there. Not seeing anything else weird in the logs that are jumping out as strange to me either, so a bit at a loss here. Any other suggestions?

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux Foundation bands together Chromium browser makers in a “neutral space”
2·11 months agoMore accurately, It uses WebkitGTK, which is a fork of Webkit. Blink, the engine Chromium and Chromium based browsers use, is also a fork of Webkit.

Gnome@discuss.tchncs.de•Introducing JPEG-XL Support in the Gnome ecosystem
20·2 years agoI’ve always thought JPEG-XL is an incredible standard, and I have no idea why it’s taking so long for platforms to adopt it. Glad GNOME finally does. Thanks for this informative write up!
If you even know which line of random bullshit you changed that made it work, that is
What a small world! The people at East Pole are super passionate about their coffee. Every time I go, I chat with the staff there and they always ask about my brewing setup, what ratios of coffee to water I’m using, etc. You can tell they all love what they do.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What Are Your Favorite SBCs (Single Board Computers), Why, and How Did You Get Into Them?
2·2 years agoI had a few Raspberry Pis and some Libre Computer boards a while back, but I recently decided to just build a beefy small form factor PC and put Proxmox on it, and honestly couldn’t be happier with the results. The ability to allocate resources for services and containers on the fly is a game changer. I can spin up a fresh container running whatever service I want in a matter of minutes without the hassle of flashing to a device and setting up networking, etc.
Any specific reason why you’d like to move away from Fedora? It’s an amazing distro, all things considered.
Awesome software, I had no idea this existed! Your setup seems extremely similar to mine (Proxmox as hypervisor + OPNsense as firewall + other services).
Does homepage run in a container like everything else? Or does it run on the Proxmox VE layer. If it’s in a container, is setting up discovery among all the other containers difficult?

I think it actually uses GStreamer as a backend which is a bit unfortunate because HDR support is either nonexistent or hit or miss with GStreamer at the moment. I’ve also had worse performance with GST over MPV, but most videos and codecs are fine. It certainly integrates better with the GNOME environment which may have been a driving factor in the decision to use it over MPV.
