hmm yeah i see where you are coming from. the thing with “poisoning the well” is a real issue, and i’m wondering what strategies would be effective in preventing it? eventually a free discussion platform is needed, but it has to let the spirit flow freely or we’re never getting anywhere. things only happen when people feel like it, and you can’t force people to feel something.

i have also written here about how mastodon is more user-centric (because you follow users) while lemmy is more topic-centered (because you follow topic-oriented communities).

now i conjecture that maybe mastodon is more closely appropriate for location-specific content? because you can have one mastodon instance per city, to see all the stuff there (all contributing users) in a wild, mixed feed. and as is usual in a city, you might have specific people that you know well that you would like to hear more stuff from. meanwhile on lemmy, emphasizing individual users is a bit more difficult and less easy to do.

so i’m wondering whether there’s a correlation between user-centricism and location-centricism, versus topic-centricism.

this might be an abstract thought but idk whether you can understand it?

uh i get what you mean, but that has mostly to do with the users here, and not technically with the software itself. although the (well-written) lemmy software surely encourages nice users to come here :)

ich glaube walterlego ist einfach süchtig nach weiteren ausführungen. z.b. kategorisierung aller kernprobleme (hätte ich zumindest gern) und allgemeine lösungsstrategien.

historisch gesehen war es lange zeit üblich, z.b. im mittelalter, gerade die entscheidungstragenden schichten der bevölkerung sehr langfristig gedacht haben. das äußert sich z.b. an diesem ganzen “dynastischen denken” wo herrscherfamilien versucht haben über generationen hinweg an der macht zu bleiben. das sind zeiträume von mindestens 60+ jahren, oft noch länger, weil die leute einfach langfristig gedacht haben und sich nicht nur über’s nächste quartal sorgen gemacht haben.

das ist heute gefühlt völlig verloren gegangen. überall wird kurzfristig optimiert. ich wünschte mir dass es wieder mehr philosophie für die langfristigkeit gibt.

Schneller ginge zb. große wohneigentümer enteignen und daraus Genossenschaften oder gGmbHs zu machen.

das erhöht den wohnraum auch nicht, sondern ändert nur die eigentümer.

denn sonst müsstest du neue leute sofort in die wohnung teleportieren sobald alte mieter:innen ausgezogen sind. und das geht ja wohl nicht.

und was ist mit weniger interessanten wohnungen irgendwo in der peripherie wo keiner leben will? würdest du die leute dann zwingen darin zu wohnen?

Es ist eigentlich offensichtlich, dass Einzelmaßnahmen nicht gegen das Kernproblem helfen werden: Gibt es zu wenig Wohnungen, hilft keine Erhöhung des Wohngeldes und auch keine Mietpreisbremse. Auch eine Klimaanlagenpflicht für Dachgeschosswohnungen wäre nur ein Tropfen auf den heißen Stein. Am Ende hilft nur ein Überangebot an Wohnungen gegen die Misere. Mieten werden erst wieder günstiger werden, wenn das Wohnungsangebot die Wohnungsnachfrage übersteigt.
