Yes. I have my alarm at exactly 6:18 - not one minute later or earlier.

wspólnota szmeru@szmer.info•Jak trafiliście na szmer? Przez polecenie? Aktywne szukanie alternatyw redita?Polski

Technology@beehaw.org•The Forced Firefox Terms of Use (ToS) Clickwrap Agreement is Here
7·8 months agoCould someone explain to me why there are so many negative comments about this, calling to switch to librewolf, ect.? Having to explicitly agree to TOS is a good thing. It was weird that it wasn’t there previously and it doesn’t change the fact that you were agreeing to them implicitly by using the browser in the first place.
Even scrolling your phone is more pleasant outside!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What cover song just takes you to Universe B compared to the original?

The original is great, it takes simple Chiptunes and manages to convey a stunning range of emotion and movement.
This cover is fantastic because it takes what’s at the core of the original and explores it even more, with varying loudness, instruments, ect.
It feels like the last warm august evening before going back to school.
It sounds like moving to a far away place in the search of opportunities.
It conveys the nostalgia of remembering your childhood friends with happiness, but also realizing that there’s a great and unknown road ahead of you.
It gives you the comfort of knowing that every moment will pass, so you should enjoy it while it lasts and be hopeful for the future.
It’s change, it’s movement, it’s nostalgia, it’s hope, it’s happiness, it’s a bitter sweet end and a fresh beginning.
This cover gave me a lot of comfort and peace during difficult moments in my life and I can say with confidence that it far surpassed the original.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What popular TV show did not do it for you and you quit watching?
5·9 months agoMost of the adult animated shows (Rick and Morty, inside job, ect.) they’re like a 15 year olds idea of what adults are.
I agree that skipping content is the way to go, Lemmy is federated and all that, but I don’t think it works with a post like this.
This post somehow got 1.2k likes but there’s no real discussion in the comments (mainly about the author like we are discussing right now) and it doesn’t contribute anything of value to the site. It’s a post that most people probably scroll past without giving it any thought, like, and immediately forget - the worst type of social media content for which I don’t see a reason to exist here.
I like Lemmy because it has a kind of “people using a website” feel instead of a “generic content slop feed” vibe like reddit, tiktok, ect. I think Lemmy, as a community, should encourage high quality OC content on the platform instead of accepting generic and forgettable posts like this and just saying “ignore it”.
Can we please not bring pizza cake comics over from reddit? They’re so mid they aren’t even funny. Strawman comics that show off the author’s frustrations.

Fedora because it just works and I don’t have to mess with it.

Eeh, idk. I’ve first installed kubuntu 20.04, then used it all the way up to 24.04, updating each version. I tinkered with it, added ppas, ect. and each update new random issues started piling up. I switched to fedora when the update to 24.04 completely broke my system, I don’t recommend kubuntu.

Yes, you’re right. I think I misunderstood the question. We call the pancakes in the post “Naleśniki”. American style pancakes would be “Pankejki” or “Naleśniki Amerykańskie”. Now I wonder - do Americans have a word for Naleśniki-style pancakes?
This is outdated. Tesco moved out of Poland a few years ago.

Poland:
If I’m sick or it’s the 1st step in getting something diagnosed: I call the (public) clinic to book an appointment, get a date within like 3 days max. I usually leave with a prescription and paid doctor’s leave for work. The visit costs nothing. If it’s urgent you can walk in without an appointment or call the ambulance/go to the ER in your local hospital. This is free.
Sometimes the doctor gives you a medical referral to a specialist or for a certain test. This can be realized in the public health system, or at a private clinic.
Wait times vary a lot - some things like a blood test are very quick, but some specialists in the public system have very long wait times. Like, 6 months to a year. Some surgeries in the public system can take even longer. The public system is free, or has a small symbolic fee.
The private system is much faster for certain specialists - dentists, psychologists, dermatologists, injury rehabilitation, ect. but it also can’t do everything. In my experience, almost all serious and niche surgeries are done in the public system for example.
Overall it’s a decent experience, but the system is severely underfunded. This isn’t really a case of mismanagement imo, it’s genuinely just a lack of money in the system. Some surgeries can get delayed because money allocated for them ran out for the year.
