This is why I’ve been arguing against rebase merges. If we aren’t super careful with older branches, we end up with messes like this. Maybe just squash and merge in the future?

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Do you prefer XMPP or Matrix powered apps as a discord alternative?English
5·11 days agoI haven’t found a solid answer for this…does XMPP support proper history nowadays? I remember using XMPP servers back around 2012 and if you didn’t have your client open, you just missed messages in rooms. If that’s still the case, it’s a pretty significant draw back…
You could fit both of those cars inside a Canyonero!
“Children of Time” surprised me quite a bit. It was a gift from a family member. One of those “oh…they like sci-fi…” kind of gifts. And it was really good.
I’ve always wondered: Can one truly borrow a feeling?
They are untrustworthy, and some like to bite cars.
Swans.
There’s been at least one attempt: https://www.theregister.com/2019/08/28/gimp_open_source_image_editor_forked_to_fix_problematic_name/
I believe that project died.
I know it’s not the most popular, but I’ve genuinely been happy with Matrix for the last few years. Obviously there are problems, but it really has gotten fairly stable. At least…for me…

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it theoretically possible Trump and ICE are killing a very large number of immigrants (like 25% of those detained) and no one knows?English
10·27 days agoICE has some reporting requirements that they are (Maybe? To some extent?) still following.
This tool was doing some collection for that: https://github.com/Open-Security-Mapping-Project/ice_detention_scraper
(Development has hit a bit of a snag recently unfortunately.)
I was hoping to hear “I am moving away because the JVM sucks to administer”…oh well. A man can dream.
Java 8 was a thing for a long time (source administered Hadoop clusters that were - and possibly still are - stuck on Java 8).
Java 8 was analogous to 1.8…for reasons.
I wanna say Java 11 (the version after 8) came out around 2011? After that the release cadence was somewhat steady. I think Java 21 landed around 2021?
(Note: I refuse to actually look any of this up.)
Edit: my refusal to look anything up immediately bites as someone else pointed out:
- There was a Java 10
- It was released in 2018.
- Both of these facts helped me remember Java 9 being released.
(Note: I continue to refuse to actually look anything up)

6·1 month agoI think they meant towns within the area highlighted in the initial image. Which would make sense, 'cause Jordan is in that area, is probably the largest incorporated community in that area, and definitely doesn’t have a bus system.
(Also, I know you meant Great Falls and not Great Colt, but it’s a funny typo)
A potentially interesting alternative to Zed without the AI…

People’s Front of Judea will triumph!

As usual, policy and procedures without properly defined controls burn us. Honestly, why did we even go through that whole re-org after the WW2 outage if we’re not actually going to adhere to our own policies?
