Southeast Europe@feddit.bg•Croatia reintroduces military conscriptionEnglish
2·11 days ago6 months is not so much, as long as it is meaningful activity and there are decent possibilities for an alternative service. Maybe mine is the perspective of someone who has never had these two things.

2·11 days agoNot a good sign.
PS: Welcome back, and apologies for the downtime.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Wafrn is for People Who Miss Tumblr’s Chaotic EnergyEnglish
2·26 days agoI hope one day the Lemmy developers arrive at the idea that a person could be a community, somewhat like the way Mastodon treats communities as users. It’s a confusing generalisation, but it works.

1·26 days agoMany years ago, when I went there, there were a lot of moored barges on the river, each offering its own music. Was quite exciting.

Southeast Europe@feddit.bg•Croatian government is looking to build a nuclear power plantEnglish
3·1 month ago…and then they become a big problem when you have moments of energy overproduction by renewables and spot market prices zero out. Then you’d wish to stop producing at a loss, but that’s impossible. Bulgaria’s strategy is to combine nuclear with pumped hydro. However, when you have reached a pumped hydro capacity that could do weekly balancing (the current strategic objective in Bulgaria), you don’t really need nuclear anymore.

Southeast Europe@feddit.bg•Croatian government is looking to build a nuclear power plantEnglish
3·1 month agoThe thing is that new nuclear installations are so prohibitively expensive that they are close to impossible in a democratic country.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Admins: Instnace randomly running extremely slowly? Check for thisEnglish
2·1 month agoAh, I see, so you are talking about this.
Of course it is nice if things get auto-generated, but doing it yourself, both in code and documentation should never be excluded as an option.

Southeast Europe@feddit.bg•How Russia helps Vučić stay in power in SerbiaEnglish
2·2 months agoI wonder why the Russian spy network doesn’t investigate who is behind the collapse of the Novi Sad train station…
It can’t be because they know the answer “from first hand”, could it? Maybe it would turn out it is Russia that set up this Maidan. Just maybe…

1·2 months agoCould you elaborate on this:
it’s not really possible to document and validate that an endpoint needs to have at least one of something
In what sense it is not possible, as I can easily see it done in the code?
I think it might be this one: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=the+ancient+art+of+war+game+apple&iar=images
Seems to be https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ancient_Art_of_War
Cool, the screenshot reminds me of a game I played in the Apple II days. Anyone remember the name of that one? “Age of war” could be pretty close, but I can’t find anything about it online.

Southeast Europe@feddit.bg•The axis of evil: Vucic-Borisov-Erdogan-PutinEnglish
1·2 months agoIf these people’s governments have anything in common, it is how bad they treat Greeks. It is of little relief that they treat each other’s minorities almost as bad. This is an alliance surviving on money, not on mutual respect.
But I guess you know that pretty well on the dark side :) Hopefully there’s some leftovers of the money for you too. Unfortunately, life on the dark side has always been somewhat miserable for the average supporters.

Southeast Europe@feddit.bg•Do people in Turkey have access to the fediverse?English
2·2 months agoDon’t think it’s much different elsewhere. There are something like 50 Bulgarians publicly sharing on Mastodon and you can see the numbers for Lemmy on this instance. But we are here, so I guess that’s a start.

Southeast Europe@feddit.bg•Lets talk about western imperialism a little bit since I think its becoming a huge problem in the Balkans right now.English
1·2 months agoRegarding Mussolini, appears that it’s to bad that Italians preferred to hang him with the head down at the end.
More seriously, you’ve probably read about his politics in Sicily and Cesare Mori. However, Italian organised crime is not only Cosa Nostra. Mussolini’s simplistic dictatorial campaign did not account for the fact that organised crime groups were also part of his own fascist party and were using his precise methods to exercise power. His relationship with the 'Ndrangheta was much more grayish.
I think you could find this article (automatically translated) interesting.

The Black Sea@feddit.bg•Oil spillage heading towards CrimeaEnglish
1·2 months agoThe centre was previously involved in rescuing birds affected by the fuel oil spill after a tanker accident in the Kerch Strait in December 2024. “The difference between mazut heavy oil and oil products is that oil products are liquid, they completely soak the feather and skin. This is the chemical burn.”
Environmental experts told the news outlet Kedr that the oil in the recent spill has been much more harmful to birds than the heavy fuel oil, or mazut, that spilled in the Black Sea in December. The Aug. 29 accident is at least the 12th reported oil spill in the region since that December spill.

This is rough. Is it an isolated event or are there also others?
