2·2 years agoIt is so embarrassing how few people understand how our system of government works. The President is not a king.
Good points

69·2 years agoWow a terrorist government that hasn’t held a free and fair election in almost 2 decades (or possibly ever) is shirking all responsibility for their people. Color me shocked.

News@lemmy.world•Mob storms Dagestan airport in search of Jewish passengers from Israel
1·2 years agoThis is very contested land. The people living there before them had just driven out the people living their before them who had also done the same and it goes on like that for a very long time. When you get back to it the best archaeological records say the earliest people there were likely one of the less popular sects of Jews.
If we’re going by who was living there then everyone after the Jews is an occupier that denied today’s Jews the land of their ancestors. But this is a bad argument.
The truth is in the details:
- Palestine and Israel both became states at the same time. There were both Arabs and Jews living there.
- Jews had purchased land from Arabs living there before Israel became a state.
- A lot of the land in the entire region was empty.
- The Ottomans kept very poor land ownership records. No one knows who exactly owned what.
- There were several wars started by Palestine against Israel where the Palestinians lost land.
- The Gaza strip and West Bank are undeniably Palestinian land. Israel needs to stop attacking the West Bank and taking its land.
- Gaza, Iran, and all the nationalist organizations and governments that believe in the genocide of Jews as the end goal here need to be removed by their people.

News@lemmy.world•Mob storms Dagestan airport in search of Jewish passengers from Israel
1·2 years agoYeah dude you’ve just solved the question of where to send 8m people of various means who are so widely discriminated against that they formed a state to defend their remaining people.
The answer of where to send them both is nowhere. It’s to cease fire and everyone accepts a two state solution.

7·2 years agoThe uncomfortable question no one wants to answer.
You can’t just start with an unsupported assertion and derive a logical conclusion from it. Your axioms need to be provably true. Logical reasoning does not work when based on either false or unfalsifiable premises.

World News@lemmy.world•Hamas Fighters’ Orders: ‘Kill as Many People as Possible’English
48·2 years agoYeah dude military personnel use maps during operations. Also these terrorists did actually attack and kill civilians. It was transparently their goal and they did it proudly.
Sorry not everything is a conspiracy. Sometimes authoritarian and antisemitic government leaders commit wanton acts of terrorism to incite extreme violence against their own people. Crazy world we live in. Do try to get better.
Your inability to understand this situation explains why you’re so angry about nonsense and unable to identify the politics of this meme.

13·2 years agoThe alternative is to do the action of not shopping at Amazon and then over time you’ll learn how to shop without it.
You don’t need to stop 100% immediately either but can wean yourself off of it.
I’ve not shopped on Amazon for like 5 years now. I just buy a lot less crap to be honest.

EV chargers have a standard that everyone other than Tesla uses. EU is basically forcing usb-c to become the standard for phones and laptops (it already effectively was except for Apple phones). The plugs in your house have a standard. The batteries in your remote have a standard. The various mechanisms by which we are communicating over the Internet have many standards. Standards are regularly implemented and entirely possible.
Not saying anything about this implementation but standards are incredibly common and more the rule than the exception. They don’t even need to be followed 100% to be effective.
