Ik zeg al jaren dat als links de immigratieproblematiek niet serieus gaat nemen dat we in Nederland op een gegeven moment een rechts extremistische premier krijgen. Dit zat er echt al jaren lang aan te komen, dus erg verbaasd mogen we niet zijn.

4·2 years agoGaming is the only reason I still bother to install windows on desktop PCs.
They are actually locked. In the Netherlands bikes usually have ring locks attached to the frame that lock just the rear wheel. It’s way more convenient, you can quickly lock your bike and pop into a store. It’s of course less safe, so especially in larger cities and at train stations people do lock their bike to something.

Web sockets are meant for applications where it’s important that you receive updates fast in a push fashion. E.g. collaborative editors like Google docs or a chat application. To scroll Lemmy or open a specific Lemmy post you don’t need that at all. You can just fetch the data once and have users refresh manually if for example they want to fetch the latest comments on a post. Using websockets for that type of application just puts unnecessary strain on the server.
I’m not sure exactly what in the photo is the wear is you’re referring to. I’d say if it plays fine you’re fine.
58·2 years agoTo everyone who is saying they use adblock and haven’t seen this yet: YouTube probably rolled this out to a smaller percentage of users first. It allows them to understand how this change impacts user behaviour, e.g. how many users comply and disable their adblocker, how many more users close YouTube than usual etc. Most tech companies do this type of analysis before releasing a high impact change to all users.
1·2 years agoI selected multiple languages and am sometimes having trouble posting comments from apps (Liftoff and Wefwef) as they don’t give the option to select a language… When I submit the comment I get an error message telling me to select a language. It doesn’t happen all the time though. For instance this comment was written on Liftoff.

Helemaal mee eens. Het conflict in Gaza is super polariserend en heeft bovendien niets met Nederland te maken. Er zijn zat andere conflicten in de wereld waar we ook bij stil zouden kunnen staan tijdens dodenherdenking, maar daar hoor je niemand over. Gaza krijgt altijd disproportioneel veel aandacht. Dodenherdenking moet ten eerste Nederlanders verbinden in het herdenken dat onze huidige vrijheid en veiligheid een hoge prijs hebben gehad. Zeker nu wereldwijd democratieën onder druk staan is het belangrijk om ons daar niet van af te laten leiden met polariserende themas.
