  • Yeah, a lot of kakampinks see themselves as morally and intellectually superior to others to the point of alienating the other voters. Some of them would even call others, specially the DDS, as “bobo” without even trying to understand the material reality of these people. The content creators are really guilty of this. There’s even that recurring idea floating among those circles on only restricting voters based on some arbitrary measure of education. ROFL with these people.

  • Thunder does have a local notification but its experimental and works by periodically polling the Lemmy instance. I guess this will not instantly notify you for any updates and may not work if the app is forcibly stopped by android specially with one ui and its aggressive battery controls. Same with voyager, the thunder devs stopped on implementing on their own way of push notification and are waiting for the Lemmy devs. They do have a highly experimental push notification but it’s a little involved to set up. Personally I dont use notifications and only occasionally checks lemmy on voyage or by using a browser.

  • It was for me until a few years ago. I used doge as a base for most of my internet alias since I like the meme (as you can see from my username). One time inside a game, I was asked if I was a crypto bro because of my ign. At the time, i don’t like crypto but have no hard feelings against it. Ever since then I loath those crypto bros and their worship of crypto currencies for destroying the image of doge and with their stupid crypto currency nonsense.

I have a similar experience, only visiting reddit for stuff like tech problems and very niche communities. I had never willingly visited the reddit homepage since.

There are a lot of posts now on lemmy compared to before the reddit fiasco but is not like the activity on reddit. The good thing though is that it made me stop my habit of mindlessly scrolling through endless content.

  • I did not dropped reddit completely, occasionally going in there through google searches but ever since the api fiasco I’ve never visited the site directly. I still haven’t deleted my account but didn’t used it since then and is planning to delete it. Lemmy does not have a lot of content and the niche communities compared to reddit. That is not a bad thing though and instead it had stopped me from mindless scrolling I picked up from using reddit.
