Hot take: defund any space research outside geostationary orbit and move these resources to fixing Earth. Really, we don’t need to know if there were bacteria on Mars 2 billion years ago, we need more green tech, more monitoring of Earth systems and an attempt at carbon scrubbing.

1·2 years agoVery. Twitter never took off among general population (only politicians, journalists, botfarms and people who troll politicians and journalists), tiktok is for kids, Instagram is popular but again, rather among influencers and people who need to show off pictures not as a default SM app. I don’t really know where did Americans and west Europeans move from Facebook.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Arthur C. Clark once said "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". What technologies do we have today that would look like magic to people from the past?
14·2 years agoThe entire advanced mathematics. Go sufficiently far and mundane matrix multiplication will look like daemonic sigils. Write out a moderately complex math proof and you’re essentially commanding inhuman tongue. Then when you convince them that it’s really not devil summon spell you can tell the old era folks, that all these symbols is why the sun rises as fast as it does and moon has phases.

1·2 years agoTrue, but there are way better fammade 5e implementations of the MtG worlds. Not sure if they already got to Capenna, but I’ve seen Kamigawa and Innistrad and honestly stuff looks like WotC made it themselves. Will post links when I find them tomorrow

(of course alongside defunding 75% of the military)
