King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard@lemmy.ml•Cavs interviewed about the upcoming Deniliquin showEnglish
1·10 months agoI remember posting this and thinking that surely that couldn’t be right, surely they wouldn’t only play Deni, surely they’d do something in Naarm…
…but yeah, 2024, the first year Gizz didn’t play a show in Melbourne in their entire existence.

What is a hard drive registry? Or: a properly managed Mac can’t be bricked by a user 🤷🏻

Avelon App@lemm.ee•Avelon 1.0.7 out now - adds text selection, tweaks to the free tier, new pro features and lots of QOL improvements
13·2 years agoTestFlight is for testing the app, not getting the paid features for free.
Avelon is broken when button labels are enabled. I hope it gets fixed soon.

Avelon App@lemm.ee•(Edited to add context) Paywalling features most other apps have for free isn't a great look
2·2 years agoCool. Don’t subscribe and use Avelon without the pro features, or use something else.

2·2 years agoYou can post without paying, and if you use Lemmy enough that you need to filter or find the lack of jump button annoying… $3/month isn’t unreasonable. If the best Lemmy client on iOS isn’t worth that to you, there are other options.
Just like how everyone has an accent. (Especially the people who think they don’t.)

2·2 years agoThe platform is tiny and has hardly any users. This is when apps need more financial support, not less.

Apple@lemmy.world•OpenCore Legacy Patcher project brings macOS Sonoma support to 16-year-old MacsEnglish
14·2 years agoSuch a disingenuous headline. The article outlines how pre-2012 Mac can’t support Metal, which breaks a bunch of stuff.
An aside: A few years ago, I used OCLP to install Monterey on my old (Early 2013) MacBook Pro 13”. It was fine, until one day it just stopped booting. It wasn’t hardware: Wiped it, reinstalled Catalina, still worked fine. It’s a fun toy to play with, but I wouldn’t want to be depending on it for anything important.

Apple@lemmy.world•iPhone 15 incompatible with portable charger?English
3·2 years agoThis doesn’t really help, but it’s not just you.
Edit: Oh, wait, this article is specifically about USB-C chargers. Still odd yours isn’t working with USB-A!

Probably! The boys haven’t made any acknowledgement of it yet tho!
Ototoy – the Japanese music store – posted the song on Tues 18th, the link started being shared around Gizz fans early morning Fri 21st (Naarm time), then pretty soon after it got pulled.
When the website was still live you needed to be located in Japan to buy it (or use a VPN) so some people skipped on it, not realising it was a mistake and expecting a European/USA release when it became Friday there. Oops.
Speculating wildly, p(doom) has probably been uploading it to different music services in advance of its release date, but either Ototoy or the uploader messed up and it went public early on their site.
Hopefully the band just release it next Friday. It’s a great song!
