4·3 months agoI just finished this a few days ago. The ending is well worth the bit of sluggish-ness that happens midway through. Enjoy!

WomensStuff@piefed.blahaj.zone•Do you like getting flowers as a gift, or is there something you'd rather have?
5·4 months agoI absolutely love getting flowers as a gift. However, I also just really love flowers in general so I’m probably biased.
I buy myself flowers a lot because I love walking into the dining room and the table has a beautiful vase of flowers. It makes me happy.
This is not a meme. It’s just a statement. 🤷♀️

Traditional Art@lemmy.world•Artists take microbial selfies of the audienceEnglish
4·9 months agoFor me this has the opposite of the intended effect. It makes me feel like we are all not very different from one another. All the photos look pretty similar not unique enough to say everyone’s microbiome is special to them.

politics @lemmy.world•Sanders and AOC tell packed arena Trump is ‘screwing over’ working class
1·9 months agoI never said I was American. I asked a hypothetical question. I was interested in a non-American’s thoughts.

politics @lemmy.world•Sanders and AOC tell packed arena Trump is ‘screwing over’ working class
35·9 months agoWhat do you suggest Americans do? Say someone is a working class American who didn’t vote for Trump. They can barely make ends meet and have no power or political sway. What does that person do? I’m not trying to be funny, I’m simply interested in your take and perspective as a non-American.
Ohhhh this is super interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Books@lemmy.world•What book(s) are you currently reading or listening? February 25
7·10 months agoMy book club book this time around is “Medusa’s Sisters” by Lauren Bear. It is awful. And boring. And graphic for the sake of being graphic. And I hate it. And book club is gonna get an earful from me.
Outside of that I just started “Well of Ascension” by Brandon Sanderson. I devoured “Mistborn” and can’t wait to get into this one.
My heart goes out to you.
I’ve had numerous pets and been a care taker for animals most of my life. I’ve lost many over the years. It takes a major toll on the mind and body every time.
This quote is the most true thing I know about grief. I think it’s from a tv show but I originally got it in a card from a relative when my dad died.
“Grief is like a suitcase sitting at the bottom of your bed. Every day, you must carry it with you, without fail. Some days, it feels like it’s filled with rocks. Some days, it feels like it’s light as a feather. That’s how you get through this: when there are more days of feathers than rocks.”
Grieving is not linear. I lost my cat in February to cancer. I saw a picture the other day that made me think of her and I had a cry.
Keep her stuff until you are ready to donate it so her things can live on in another happy doggo.
Try to take care of yourself. At least remember to drink water.
