Privacy@lemmy.ml•out of the loop, what's the problem with signal?English
37·7 hours agoPerfect is the enemy of good. Moving to Signal would be way better than getting analysis paralysis and staying with Whatsapp.
A satirical website dubbed Malus (malice) has been making its rounds and fooling users after claiming it’s deploying AI tools to recreate open source projects from scratch with corporate-friendly licensing (my personal favorite is Emergency AGPL Removal in the footer links)
Hahaha. That’s funny. Oh, guys.

Yes, I’ve tried SearXNG. No, I don’t think it’s a viable alternative. (yet?)

Fluxer App@lemmy.world•Wake up, babe. Fluxer flatpak just dropped!English
1·11 hours agoI feel you on this… their latest careers page announcement made me feel a little weird: https://fluxer.app/careers
Like… I’m hoping they’re not gonna go full corpo and get VC money and try to IPO and all that stuff…
But, on the other hand: devs gotta eat, servers gotta get deployed. They do need money. If we want them to focus on building Fluxer, then they need to make some money so they don’t have to work somewhere else. I originally tried out Stoat, but the main instance is so slow that I wasn’t sure if I could recommend it to people. I understand why it’s slow. It costs money to rent more powerful servers. I wish Stoat had more money.
Additionally, yeah, both Stoat and Fluxer are AGPLv3, which is good. Previously, Fluxer required signing a CLA, which is not great for building trust with the community. It would give Fluxer the ability to make the project non-free in the future. However, it seems like Fluxer has decided to remove their CLA! This should help limit the amount of damage they can do if they go evil.
Also, also. Fluxer is going to pursue federation. Which would again hopefully protect us a little from an evil Fluxer. Now sure, federation isn’t here yet and maybe they could cancel it, but at least we got some interest in it. For Stoat, I believe last I heard they weren’t interested in implementing federation. Not sure if this has changed.
tl;dr I also have some uncertain vibes from Fluxer, but so far their actions have been pretty positive, so… innocent until proven guilty? 🤷

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Lemmy may be heading down the path of LLMsEnglish
3·14 hours agothat doesn’t solve the issue of it being the same content, you know, because of the whole concept of the fediverse
Isn’t that a feature, not a bug? Lemmy can’t single-handedly ruin the fediverse. Piefed, MBin, can lead a different direction and Lemmy can’t hold all the content hostage.

But, Motorola did announce their partnership with GrapheneOS on the official Motorola blog: https://motorolanews.com/motorola-three-new-b2b-solutions-at-mwc-2026/
Together, Motorola and the GrapheneOS Foundation will work to strengthen smartphone security and collaborate on future devices engineered with GrapheneOS compatibility. … In the coming months, Motorola and the GrapheneOS Foundation will continue to collaborate on joint research, software enhancements, and new security capabilities, with more details and solutions to roll out as the partnership evolves.
I actually did need a phone replacement a month ago and I went with Fairphone for now. Trying to spread out the power, instead of concentrating it.
