My exact experience with it down to a T. Can definitely appreciate it for the technological marvel it is.

I was hoping for a Vulkan (first party) remaster of Q3a at quakecon this year. There was a sort if tease about this just prior. Maybe it’s not ready yet.

Is there some story leading up to this?

we could take hints of the functional design from covenant tech like the weapons and vehicles and use lighting along the side as a battery level / DPI indicator with some RGB LEDs diffused under a translucent plastic ribbon (I’m still thinking of the type 25 here but there’s several other examples too).
I need to try sketching this out at some point. A degree in industrial design and I’ve never really put that to use in a professional context 😓

keyboards are one thing; I’ve recently been wondering (and don’t worry, I know how dumb this sounds) about the prospect of a gaming mouse with a finish reminiscent of something like the reach plasma rifle.
The covenant weapon textures in H:R are stunning, I would hope that the curved shapes of most mice would lend themselves well to that sort of aesthetic.
would be neat to feel that texture, that hexagonal pattern, neater still if the materials used could give off that same sort of metallic, pearlescent finish.
for context, a couple friends and I have sort of been inspired by the open source ploopy mouse. would love to make something in that vain, though wireless if at all possible.
it also had this absolute banger

they’ve been a controversial company in the eyes of customers for (I want to say) at least a decade now, though I feel in some small way vindicated by deleting my ea account earlier this year.
It’s upsetting to see them in such a sorry state today, not like they’re without any technical merit; their frostbite engine is wildly performant for its presentation and capability.
You know they won’t. It looks like they’re reusing the infinite elite designs for the most part, along with certain weapon models like the needler.
kinda wild to see their take on a plasma rifle after maybe 10 years though.

That’s understandable, I’m inclined to react the same way to games on steam.
I hadn’t checked in with how that discussion went down; that’s disappointing. I just settled into fedora after fully moving on from windows earlier in this year (have been multi-booting for several years prior). Time will tell if this all goes to shit as well.
Right up there with the likes of destiny 2, pubg, 2019 era call of duty
