Any time my players try to do stuff like that i have them roll initiative and start a turn order, the “victim” NPC rolls with advantage b/c shop keepers are gonna be explicitly keeping an eye on stuff (unless they are distracted). There’s a lot of nuance to it too so each encounter. I do hate making character sheets for every NPC though.

You have my sympathy, i lost my fave pen that way too, the manufacturer didn’t even sell replacement nib assemblies.

I personally am all for flair, but it must be optional, i have so many silly bits of flair on my phone that l chose to be there, it makes it mine. I refuse to use an apple product (unless absolutely necessary) due to the lack of being able to personalize it.

I could use one on my empty passenger seat because the sensor in the seat is defective(where it thinks there’s always a passenger) but i instead just buckle the seatbelt across the empty seat.
