5·2 years agoAt first I was like “challenge accepted, I love good bimbocore”, but after listening you were right, I do kind of hate this.

Music@lemmy.world•Vespair Shares: "Run" by Zeal & Ardor (avant-garde metal, 2022). Possible seizure warning for the music videoEnglish
3·2 years agoAbsolutely brilliant. They didn’t even have their two choral voice guys (they had covid at the time), but they have great stage presence and energy and the sound was remarkably crisp for such distortion-heavy music in such a small venue.
I’m glad I’m not the only one into the old British Guy music. Pete and Bas rule and I like the Northern Boys alright too.
Well, Sindhu World is creme de la creme of the UK drill scene at the moment. There’s no one of any age who makes better, more playful / fun and in the case of Northern Boys / Norman Pain more relatable (to the common non-gangster person) rap - I came by this opinion by systematically combing through Pressplay Media and GRM Daily after I saw Pete and Bas for the first time. Also, both 91shots and Handsome Dexter produce top notch industrial-strength instrumentals - I give a slight edge to Dexter for playfulness and crazy pockets he carves in unexpected places.
Though, after listening to it all, I have to say Norman Pain hits especially hard. It reminds me of Alice in Chains in the nineties coming as a counter to all the glam prancing around.
Performance of OSMand is actually great on mid-level SOCs I usually get. Anything with snapdragon 6xx or more and performance is a non-issue for me, especially since it has a new opengl2 renderer. Also, it uses very, very little battery navigating me with voice (so screen off) along a pre-defined GPX on locally downloaded maps in airplane mode. And the simplicity of the interface is a downside once you spend a few hours tinkering with OSMand and get used to all it can do.

3·2 years agoThey’re one of my favourite bands ever, seen them live in a small club in Zagreb a few years ago.
OSMand is a much more powerful tool even with no plugins and it’s a mature app you can count on.

1·2 years agoYes, I’ve been waiting for this, really great.
I liked 1 enough at the time, but 2 was a masterpiece. They get progressively more sloppy after that, pun intended.

World News@lemmy.world•South Korea’s fertility rate sinks to record low despite $270bn in incentivesEnglish
23·2 years agoThis statement irks me unproportionally strongly compared to how banal it is. It’s the equivalent of “it is what it is” in saying nothing, but with some edgy pedantic seasoning. What about if the atmosphere was stripped and the planet was left a barren rock? What about if something knocked it from out of the Solar system and it was sent reeling into the universe on its own? “The planet doesn’t care, it can carry on without us” – and please, pretend I did the Spongebob random caps thing, because that’s what I think of your banality.

Technology@lemmy.world•Signal and Threema want nothing to do with WhatsAppEnglish
1·2 years agowhile i see where you’re coming from, being able to message WhatsApp users from a client app that respects privacy would be better than being forced to have WhatsApp installed on your device
Who’s forcing you? I removed everything Zuckerberg and just informed people I use only Signal now. I had to help my parents a bit with the install and the pin, younger than 70s did it themselves. I found that, if you have a reason for boycotting, people will just give you a hundred MB of their phone space and install Signal along with whatsapp

Technology@lemmy.world•Signal and Threema want nothing to do with WhatsAppEnglish
1·2 years agoUgh, okay Meredith, let’s pretend it’s impossible to handle this with user experience that makes the user acknowledge their conversation with a WhatsApp user is not secure. Meanwhile if the only viable way for this conversion to occur is to have WhatsApp on both ends, the situation less secure.
I don’t agree with this. The only way to have the conversation is to have Signal at both ends.
Yeah, Khruangbin was much more my jam while they were just surf-y instrumentals, this last album I can appreciate, but don’t really play for fun. This does fill that hole and it’s incredibly produced and mixed besides being a wonderful melody.
