Honestly I’m pretty happy with the live action adaptation. My biggest gripe with one piece is the pacing. It ruins so many good moments and storylines because getting to them and through them takes so long. The Netflix adaptation addresses this biggest issue for me by tightening the pacing. There’s no doubt that in doing so some of the original content gets cut and some of the moments in the anime carry much more weight. But I would 100% rather watch the adaptation because I just hate the pacing of the anime. The issue persists in the manga too. It’s a great story held back by sluggish and sloppy pacing. I’ve heard there’s another anime being made and I hope that one has the sense to spend more time on the quality of the story telling rather than the quantity of it.

In fairness, a 1,000+ episode show is far too unwieldy and intimidating for anyone but the most devout Anime fans to even consider starting at this point.

I’m a devout Anime fan who’s 200 episodes into Detective Conan and I sometimes wonder why I’m doing this to myself.

Someone did something similar for Naruto, and it made Shippuden a lot more bearable. Although it was still so bad that I eventually gave up and skipped to the end lol

I did not, tried a couple times and couldn’t make it through ep.01 to be honest. Just not my style I guess.

For real?? I didn’t know anime to live action could actually good. I’d give it a try if I didn’t already hate One Piece.

while cancelling a bunch of other good shows. i think stranger things, castlevania, and one piece are the ones that last longer than 2 seasons.

It’s almost as if they use a different metric to determine success than if you liked it. People joined or resubscribed for One Piece which is why it was renewed.

I dropped my Netflix subscription after they announced that Kaos was cancelled as soon as the first season aired.

I know it’s a drop in the bucket but I genuinely wonder how much revenue they have lost from people giving up on their service because they know good shows will be cancelled without any closure.

they fucked up by cancelling blood of zeus, and sandman too, the rushed endings were so bad, and the season was so cheesy.

I think anyone familiar with the show expected this. Season 2 is doing all the build up for Alabasta, and Alabasta is a very popular and iconic arc. Even 4kids made it all the way through.

The real question is what’s gonna happen after Season 3. Jaya is probably adaptable, even if the mink brothers might be freaky in Live Action, and Skypiea shouldn’t be too crazy on the effects, but it is quite long.
