Pictured from distribution Center in Baldwin Park, CA. They’ve been flying this flag for years. This hasn’t gotten much attention but In n out also was anti-vax and anti-lockdown during COVID. The CEO also recently went on a right wing podcast to announce they’re moving the HQ to Tennessee but backed out after getting backlash. They would wave the MAGA flag if they knew they wouldn’t get in trouble for it but are ‘softballing’ with the Don’t Tread On Me flag.
Anyone who still thinks the flag isn’t right wing and is meant to represent anti tyranny clearly hasn’t been paying attention to politics the last few years. This is the same way the Swastika was a symbol for peace , it was co opted by Nazis. I personally will stop eating at In-N-Out. Will save me some calories at least.

Don’t they have Bible verses on their cups? Or is that another place? Definitely remember something putting me off from them the first time I had it (that wasn’t related to their food)
You’re right. That’s them with the bible verses printed at the bottom of their cups.
The bottom? Is the verse “thou shall pour soda in thine lap”?
*shalt
Cook-Out in North Carolina has Bible quotes on their cups. Last I recall it was Psalm 118:24, “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it,” which is fairly anodyne. I haven’t really heard much else about Cook-Out’s political leanings, and if at all possible I’d like it to stay that way. I really like their shakes.
Til, but even before I knew this, in-and-out is way way over hyped. Like someone else said, their fries are like styrofoam. Old, brittle styrofoam. The patties are comically thin and if they weren’t salted to hell and back they wouldn’t have any flavor at all. Seriously, ignoring social issues and just speaking of the food, they’re my least favorite fast food place, I’d rather eat anything else
Nailed it. So weird people like it honestly.
I’ve never been a huge fan of the food, but it was my understanding from friends in that line of work that they treat their employees above average.
I don’t know how the staff like their jobs, but one thing I will say is that everytime I’ve visited an in-n-out there was a ton of staff and they worked with and around eachother like a well-oiled machine. I’d walk in to a huge line of customers and see it collapse in only a couple of minutes. They moved. But alas, the food’s ass
The burgers taste the way Windex probably does.
An In-N-Out opened near me a few years ago, (just outside Houston) and every once in a while I decide to give it another try, and it’s just a garbage-tier burger every time.
I heard for years about a secret menu, but how the fuck is there a secret menu when there’s only five ingredients to choose from? What kind of burger place doesn’t even have bacon? Or mayonnaise?? My go-to burger is cheese, bacon, mayo, and grilled onions (if available). In-N-Out has none of that except for cheese and an unremarkable and flavorless patty of beef. And yes, I’ve tried ordering a burger directly off the menu. It wasn’t good.
I love a good burger. I seek them out. In my small city I can think of seven burgers off the top of my head that I’d choose before I ever give In-N-Out another chance, and a handful more that I haven’t had a chance to try. It wasn’t the worst burger I’ve ever had, but it was by far the most disappointing.
All that to say, I already wasn’t going there again, but now I’ll do it even louder.
I agree with pretty much every word. And to top it off, their fries are worse than their burgers.
Right? Then the diehards are like, you have to order it animal style, with the special animal sauce that’s just a bunch of condiments mixed together, which is the same fucking secret sauce that every burger place has.
Or I could go to a good burger place that has delicious fries that are crispy enough to dip in that exact same sauce.
“Animal style” means they cook the patty with mustard and top it with grilled onions and cheese, not just the special sauce.
I’ve never eaten at In-N-Out — and now probably never will — but I’ve made “animal style” burgers at home and can’t deny they’re pretty darn good.
Well they don’t cook the animal style fries with mustard, so it’s just their soggy fries made even soggier by the animal sauce. Plus cheese and onions I guess. I couldn’t remember all the specifics, but I do remember how it made me feel.
Been to an In n Out only once. The burgers were pretty standard-issue but the fries were indeed awful. Like biting into a stick of styrofoam.
I’ve never understood the strange devotion the fans have for this chain. You’re on point, it’s nothing to write home about in any department.
Marketing works.
It works better on shallow morons, sure, but no one is immune, especially when it works well enough to develop a perception of being a popular opinion.
Marketing works.
valid. and there’s something to be said about the regional/city fav - in the midwest it was whitecastle, in texas it was whataburger, in the pnw it’s dicks: none of these are remarkable hamburgers. but they’re the local brand that’s been there forever and has the population’s loyalty.
Fuck In-N-Out, Five Guys is superior and as someone on the east coast I can acturally eat there.
Seriously? Five guys and $50 dollars later you get kind of a steamed mess little hamburger. And don’t get me started about how bad the fries are.
I wouldn’t bother with either place. Nearly everywhere has a good hamburger, you gotta look around, but it is never a chain.
Agreed. Five guys is much better and consistent and tasty if you are ok with a messy meal. Fries actually taste like real potatos too.
Five Guys is fine… I do love their cajun fries though, and they give you so many
So when do we boycott Apple for kissing Trump’s ass and bending over to his wishes?
People don’t boycott shit (in America), and they only pretend to with things they don’t like all that much.
I haven’t purchased a Nintendo product in 5 years even though my hands down favorite games have all been Nintendo. I suffer quietly.
You and I are in the minority. I just said it with such a matter of factness because the vast majority of people in America won’t actually give up things they like for any significant and meaningful amount of time, even for a good reason
So all those Lemmy posts before about people boycotting Target et. al were just for show? So can I go and back to Target now?
I mean, yeah, sorta. Lemmy is absolutely tiny, and what the majority of people here say or are saying is definitely not a good indicator if that’s actually the popular or even significant opinion elsewhere.
Now the particular thing you were describing could have been a bigger thing culturally, but I don’t actually know because I don’t use anything really besides Lemmy, either way though, I would wager a significant amount of money that the majority of people that participated in that are now back to shopping at Target.
I feel like either way I’m a poser now. I just can’t help but notice the women that go to target over walmart. It’s not such a tough decision when I think about it like that. Also not offense to Walmart shoppers. I personally shop at Walmart but I was avoiding Target because I thought we were all doing it.
Well, I mean, you should still stick to your principles and do what you think is right. That’s still important at the end of the day.
still enough people buy apple products, to surpass people that will boycott, just like with chick a fil lel.
That’s true for nearly every boycott.
Ive never given Apple a dime, so… your turn.
We should start pranking the Apple stores and get all their phones to do something stupid all at once. That would be awesome.
I thought this was pretty common knowledge that In/Out has always been owned by fundies but they were lowkey until Tea party/Trump came around and I been avoiding them ever since so I can’t boycott any harder.
In-n-out is absolute trash. Everytime i visit cali i give it a shot and I’m like, yup still taste like shit. Id rather have a gas station hamburger than wait through the line for a shit burger.
They opened one near me. I had always heard about them, so I gave them a try. Terrible.
Apparently they’ve been flying this flag since 2007 before trumpets existed, according to Google Street view history
gee, so they’ve held to that bullshit as it became the symbol of the alt-right shitwads? that’s even more gross… somehow
Thank you, good to know
in CA? bold move. you could get away with it in SC maybe
I had no idea they were right-wing assholes until 2021 when masks were mandated and bodies were being stacked in refrigerated trailers all over the country. I walked into an In-N-Out in CA and not one of their employees had a mask on. Every single customer who wasn’t eating did.
I wonder how many people In-N-Out is directly responsible for putting in the morgue with their fundamentalist, right wing bullshit? Not that they would give a damn. Evangelicals don’t give a shit about anyone outside their cult.
Haven’t been back since.
They don’t even exist in my part of the country but sure I’ll join the boycott.
I’ll just go to Culver’s anyways.
With no evidence except observing where they choose to locate their restaurants (in the exurbs) and the general vibe of the place, I’m willing to bet Culver’s is run by fascist CHUDs too.
It’s a corporation so probably

The Gadsen Flag is not a right wing flag. It is a Revolutionary War flag flown by a small subset of dumb fascists who don’t have a fucking clue as to its history or actual meaning. Is the American flag a right wing flag because a lot of MAGA stupid fucks fly it from their trucks? No, it is not. Push back against idiocy. Know the history and learn those dummies a lesson when they fly it.
