Circuit court justice Diane Goodstein, who ruled against Trump administration last month, was out walking when mansion erupted into flames
- I’m sure it was a black Mexican Trans antifa gang member who did it /s - Don’t forget, they wrote “ANTI LAW” on the firestarter
- “FALSE FLAG!!!”

- From the comments: - Two Trump supports in a bar. “Did you hear about the fire at the house of that judge that ruled against the boss?” - “Shhh - it’s tomorrow!”
- Uh… kinda weird the valuation of the home is in the headline, right? - Very weird unless the headline wants to imply that Democratic judges are corrupt cause how could they afford a $1.5 million home. Although, in some markets, $1.5 million is the average price to buy a house. - Housing prices are just insane right now. Over the last two years, my parent’s house went from ~$450k (already laughably unreasonable) to $1.1 million. Figuring out how to afford the property taxes has been incredibly stressful, and several other homes in the area have already been sold (to, predictably, huge corporations) by their owners because of the financial strain. Our local laws are a little backwards about that, but only a little. This shit is getting ridiculous.
- Dude a cracker box built in the 1960s in my hood is like 1.2m.

- In America, we can only seem to relate to each other by buying stuff. The monetary value of a thing is close enough
- I mean, it does help drive home how much that fire sucked for her.
- Multiple potential reasons for the property value and ownership. - Waterfront property is $$$, and $1.6m isn’t a surprising number, in fact it’s probably lower than a lot of places. - It could have been a family property. That’s pretty common. - Bought low a long time ago. - Inheritance money. - Spouse has a good paying job. - Judge was a highly paid defense attorney before becoming a judge. - And finally, I have no idea, do judges get paid a shitton?

- America is starting to sound more like old Mexico - And Mexico is starting to sound more like old America
- I feel the US is hitting boiling point and things are going to go entirely off the rails very soon. Canada will probably need to set up refugee and asylum centres. - I feel the US is hitting boiling point and things are going to go entirely off the rails very soon - January 2025 wants it’s comment back.
- Canada had better stock up on drones to deter an invasion. - Invading Canada would be a quagmire and a terrible idea. - Canadians look just like US Americans.
- Canada is huge and outside of a few cities is mostly empty.
- Lots of families are spread across both sides of the boarder. Bombing Canadian cities would cause a rebellion within the USA.
- The boarder is huge and nearly impossible to secure. Canadian rebels could easily slip into the USA to carry about bombings.
- Canadian sleeper cells are already in place. (Over 800K Canadians are known to live in the USA.)
 - You know, I made almost this exact comment on reddit and they banned me for it. Funny. - You also forgot one major point, Canadians are nice until we aren’t. We’re mean mother fuckers in war time.

- Thats one of the ‘good’ endings. This could also be part of the beginning of a twenty year period of authoritarianism with little resistance. - Removed by mod

- This sucks and all but a $1.5M home? Dayam. - Removed by mod

- That’s like a 4 bedroom houde these days most places, though idk what SC realty is like - most placesin a few large coastal cities- In SC? Because if you mean in general, I can link a few counterpoints - You have a few links that cover most places? - Removed by mod

- Edisto Island is a, relatively, secluded part of SC. It’s the only part where beach front isn’t astronomical. So, it’s actually relatively expensive for the area. Edisto Island is pretty sparse, as far as beach/island areas go. It’s not really comparable to anywhere else in SC. Even Cherry Grove lol

- A home in the same area, same beach front style, currently listed at $1.5m - 4BR/4BA
- 2100sq ft
- Last sold 8 years ago for $566k
- Originally sold in 2011 for $140k (land only)
 - So new construction, was 1/3 the price just a few years back. Its current valuation and what the judge her former rep husband bought it for was likely nowhere near a price that would be “dayam” territory.
- In Canada, we call that a 4-bedroom home.
- That’s not as insane as it used to be.
- Yeah I was gonna say, that’s what a “mansion” costs in the US? - McMansion

- It’s too early to make any judgements. We all want to think that it was politically motivated, but it could be anything, from an accident to faulty wiring to spontaneous combustion from a bucket of oily rags in the garage, to a murder-suicide, etc. - Frankly, if this were any other time in America, politically motivated violence would be way down the list, but today it’s the first thing we go to. - It very well may be someone who was inspired by the fire at PA guv Josh Shapiro’s house, but it may be bad wiring, too. - a bucket of oily rags in the garage - who does that aside from Kanye. - I used to work fire damage jobs, and i can say in 6 years there three people had house fires started by random chemical buckets in their garage. So it does happen, and they were all rich white idiot.
- Don’t talk about his wife like that.
- That shit happens all the time. My folks were insurance people. Dinner conversation was pretty boring. I’ll never forget the appetizing story about the girl on the snowmobile being decapitated by an old strand of barbed wire in the woods. I wasn’t allowed to ride on snowmobiles.

- I’m POSITIVE that as the Courts and Judges CONTINUE letting Rich people Free while putting Poor Children in Prison this WONT happen again! - She didn’t release voting records, actively working against the Trump agenda to surpress voting rights. - Im sure she had some issues with judgements, but willing to bet that was the cause of this. She was getting threats pertaining to going against Trump’s bullshit
- In this particular case, the judge ruled against Trump. So put your violent fantasy back in the box and maybe never bring it out again. - not familiar with this joke account, it seems - It’s weird. My first thought was Russian troll. But, it seems to get a bunch of upvotes in other comments. - Their comments are satirical, though it’s often subtle

- What? Are you talking about?

- I would like to think that people who frequent this community are not the type to wildly speculate until basic facts are available. - I’d like to think that, but it’s wrong. - I’d like to think that we had a country where the leader didn’t regularly threaten the judiciary with stochastic terrorism. - I’d like to think that, but it’s wrong. - I’d like both things to be true. I’ll start with what I can control today, since my party lost the last national election.

- Houses are going to have to be built much more defensively. At this point anyone could have gas poured on their home and lit up, or have fake police knock and shoot.
