      It would be fun if they would never reach 3.15. Because of the pi joke. But semantic versioning has a say in this, too. Sadly.

        This is what Donald Knuth is doing with TeX :)

        Wikipedia:

        Since version 3, TeX has used an idiosyncratic version numbering system, where updates have been indicated by adding an extra digit at the end of the decimal, so that the version number asymptotically approaches π. This is a reflection of the fact that TeX is now very stable, and only minor updates are anticipated. The current version of TeX is 3.141592653; it was last updated in 2021.

          There is also the mathfont of Tex, which slowly converges to e.

        I would be childish and stubborn enough to actually do that.

      Technically should be 3.14.2, or even 3.14.16. On account of how quoting something to a limited number of significant figures works.

    All future versions of Python should just append digits of pi; semantic versioning be damned

    you can actually call it from command line in this release:

    $ 𝜋thon --version

    Python 3.14.0

    I’m so fucking happy to be seeing this meme without a racist context. Maybe I troll the wrong corners of the internet but all I see this captioned with other places is zero effort racist jokes.

      Huh. I don’t think I often see it with a racist context? It’s usually funny/random stuff. Like “Gender” fluid and shit (I love dumb puns).

      Idk why you’re being downvoted tho :(

    therefore it can be found on PyPI as PiPy. I’ll see myself out.
