An impeachment effort against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem will “move forward,” members of Congress are promising, after the effort was announced last week in the wake of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer fatally shooting a United States citizen in Minneapolis.
“We’re gonna move forward to impeach Kristi Noem,” Representative Angie Craig, a Minnesota Democrat, vowed during an interview with MS Now on Sunday.
In a press release, Democratic Representative Robin Kelly‘s office said that the 3 articles of impeachment would allege Noem “abused her office for personal benefit and steered federal dollars to associates,” “willfully obstructed Congressional oversight and withheld Congressionally appropriated funds in violation of her constitutional oath and federal law” and “compromised public safety, violated due process of American citizens, and directed unconstitutional actions.”
So most of us remember Noem’s main claim to fame being that she executed her new puppy, after… not training it properly, and being annoyed by it.
Well I’d like to remind folks she was behind this ad campaign:

The goat story was in her book, as an extension of the puppy story. Once she shot the puppy in the face, she was all wound up on bloodlust, and decided to shoot the goat, too, because she thought it was disgusting.

Yeah you’re probably right - I guess my impulse is more that even in this the Dems need to be talking about how Trump is equally lawless and incompetent and in need of removal. But they don’t understand or want to understand that in the misinfomation age, if you don’t fill a space with the truth it will be filled with lies.
To get rid of what happening involves a complete upheaval to how the US government operates and dictates. Until then, we will always be in this shitty loop. Trump is a symptom not the cause. There will be someone else definitely worse if the flaws in our government are not fixed.

Impeachment is just pointless “respectability” politics intended to get decent people to step down out of respect for the position. The cult leader running this nonsense was impeached twice and guess what came of it? This is just another pointless show of theatrics, all sound and fury signifying nothing.
Impeachment is a necessary precursor to conviction and removal.

Doesn’t matter. Some people will say things like “it’ll fail but at least we’ll have those names on record” but that doesn’t even matter. Without the votes and knowing this will fail is just another insta-failure for democrats that falls onto the pile of recent failures. It’d be better to wait until after the midterms.
Trump will pardon her, as long as she stays loyal.
You can’t pardon an impeachment, it’s not a criminal charge, it’s about misconduct that can lead to removal from office.
That said, I’m split if this will lead to anything. The administration is suffering massive public outcry and pushback, they need to hang someone. But they’re also prideful and dumb and might shoot themselves in the dick and let her stay in office.
Like Trump cares about that. He will do it.
The algorithm may only feed us rage-bait and the worst news because it gets the most engagement, but it needs to be repeated that Trump’s efforts have been shot down or blocked over and over, almost every day, by judges and the existing institutions. He can abuse the powers he has, but he can’t bend the entire judicial system or he would stop burning through thousands of lawyers.

You can’t pardon impeachment proceedings, only federal crimes. Not sure if anything will come from impeachment, but we need to understand the system even a little.
Waiting to hear what talking points Israel and/or billionaire donors gave the Chuck Schumer side of the Dems to inevitably oppose this, or put no real effort into it so it inevitably fails.
If she’s impeached, congress will just approve some other reckless, hateful pos to take her place.
I appreciate them going on record, but it’s a waste of time. Even if you could get a couple of MAGAs to vote to impeach her, they never get the 2/3 in the Senate to convict and remove her, so it’s all just wasted effort that will ultimately be a MAGA win.
Better to gather evidence on her, and others, and make impeachment the entire House agenda for the next two years. Expose ALL of their crime, corruption, and graft in front of America, and then see how motivated people are to vote against them in 2028.
