The onboarding will offer you a lot of topics to sign up to. These contain communities in them. The idea is to populate subscription feeds, however it can leave some users with a lot of undesired subscriptions if they click too many.
If you wish to roll this back. Go to Settings -> Profile and click the yellow bar. Don’t click the red bar!
But welcome, and feel free to post your thoughts here.

Yay! I’m on social media, being social! 😃
Well hello, fellow social, I sure do love socialing.
Thank you for this information. Much appreciated! Notice it is a lively community here, which is great to contribute to. Onwards and upwards. Let’s goooo
Hello,
I noticed your posts on !buyfromeu@feddit.org , thank you for those!
Hi! I’m pineapple_pizza, and I’m new in town
Hello stranger, I hope you will find our settlement to our liking. All is not good and well though, we seem to have an infestation of radioactive bugs in our fields that are eating the crops. If you are willing to take care of them we will pay you with some random useless items that are worth absolutely nothing.
Your deliciousness is welcome though 😋🍕
Hello! Me too!
And I’ll try to keep my trap shut.A Canadian classic, welcome.
Don’t click the red bar!
Famous last words
You can have a little click the red bar, as a treat.
Welcome new Users!!
PS. If you’re looking for a good mobile app, Voyager works the best for me: https://getvoyager.app/
Do you know if any apps support the piefed exclusive features like subscribing to threads?
Thunder is also a good client on android and ios, what I use personally, it has a material design on android which I prefer https://thunderapp.dev/
https://blorpblorp.xyz/ is also great.
This is what I use👍🏼
Im going to toss in Summit as well. Really excellent, immensly customizable, steady updates.
As a user of Relay for Reddit, this is excellent. So many of the same features and customisations that I feel right at home already.
And extensive filtering!
The sign up page needs to be redesigned. I literally could not sign up a few days back. I think now what it was is the catcha has a white box underneath to enter the field, which can be missed.
Good point, thanks!
Welcome to all those new to piefed. Hope everyone enjoys their stay.
Many people prefer smaller images on the home page - go to https://piefed.social/user/settings and try the “More compact” option in the “Compact UI” field.
The other option - “Most compact” - is similar to old.reddit which is nice but not to everyone’s taste.
Also try another theme! Amethyst is a popular one and the HPT themes are nice. Also Card Shadow. The rest are kinda experimental.
Neat ! What’s the reason for the influx of new users?
Successful posts on r/buyfromeu mostly. I think some others too.
Ah, should have guessed it was a Reddit thing 🙂
Over the last week a hand full of posts have hit over ~450,000 views together.

Wow, I didn’t know there is a South Africa instance!
It didn’t exist until last week.
I’ll move the South African sub to it eventually
Love the layout. It achieves the impossible: looking low-tech while somehow still being bloated. My OCD is screaming, but challenge accepted.
There’s a powerful API available, and from checking why your account has a low reputation warning I see you’re into vibe coding. So I guess you could have your fun putting together your own user interface.
Personally I like the default one. Each to their own.
Yeah, Vibers get a lot of hate. But honestly, who cares about rep points? I sure don’t. The whole system is counterproductive—it just forces everyone to think exactly the same way. If you don’t, you get shut out of the ‘cool’ crowd.
The reason you’re getting shut out is because you write your posts with a LLM. Goodbye.
Why are there more comments when I see this post on Lemmy.World than when I see it here?
Because there’s a UI bug. We’re aware of it.
The stickying of posts instance-wide has only just been rolled out.
Greetings from Lemmy.
woohoo!
