The Bezos Earth Fund is focused on selling artificial intelligence — the technology driving Amazon's rising carbon emissions — as the solution to the climate crisis

The claim that AI is going to solve the climate crisis is of course total bullshit

He only created the Bezos Earth fund because of employee organizing. It was a way to buy off the environmental nonprofits so that he was less likely to face a union

Most of these charities are just laundering the billionaires reputation, so they already have that mission

Lmao still can’t get over how stupid his partner looks with all the plastic surgery. These people are living in another dimension. I hope their yacht sinks with them on it.

Why am I getting the feeling that these data centers are actually vaults?

I know they just approved micro nuclear for data centers as well - you know, so they can “self sustain”.

🎶 A Christian woman knows her place
So go ahead and punch me in the face
'Cause I deserve it, I was wrong
That’s why I wrote this holiday song
With my big fake tits and my botox lips
Saying Merry Christmas, Jesus Christ 🎶

They run out of money so they’re looking for every excuse to pump more money from other sources into this bubble, no matter how absurd those are. This article gets more and more ridiculous as you scroll down.

Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

Anti-science, inactivism, and unsupported conspiracy theories are not ok here.
