The first change.org petition to Renew “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” for a third season hit 30,000 signatures today, and is over 31,000 at the time of this post.

The one at the post link is the one launched from the UK with the regrettable, unofficial (likely AI) image. But it was up first and has been getting momentum.

There’s another one Renew Star Trek Starfleet Academy for a full season three, with the official key art poster that is about to break 5,000 signatures.

Between these two, Starfleet Academy now has more signatures than did Prodigy when Netflix picked up its second season.

Clearly this is causing consternation among some of those who have opposed the show from the outset. There are now opposing petitions Urge Paramount to shelve Star Trek: Starfleet Academy season two; Keep the Academy series permanently cancelled; and similar. None of these has significant traction.

I wish Ellison didn’t own Trek.

I haven’t watched Trek since he bought it, and I miss it.

I don’t know when that was, but check out lower decks, prodigy, and strange new worlds. They’re all a bit different, but are definitely Trek. Strange new worlds is kinda Next Gen with a bit more modern humor and special effects. The other too are animations, but lower decks is very adult. Prodigy is probably more family friendly, but it was really good.

To be clear, I refuse to support the Ellison’s and their systematic hostile takeover of News and media.

I miss trek, but now that watching it supports paramount I’m out.

For Prodigy in particular, note that it is very much a kid’s show aimed at children. It’s fine Trek if you walk into it knowing and expecting that, but you need those expectations set beforehand. Think less “The Animated Series” and more “whatever Nickelodeon airs at 10am”.

No such disclaimer for Lower Decks. Jump right in blind. Works better the more traditional Trek you’ve seen.
