Great, now to just cover everything else, so non-terminal people aren’t euthanized for nothing.
i assume root canal, crowns, peridontial surgeries, etc. im surprised they wernt doing that before.
I’m not sure how this doesnt end in future austerity with interest, given it was not funded via taxes.
Its different in that way compared our universal healthcare, the NDP at that time made sure it was actually sustainable.
Cool, now do eyecare. And while you’re at it, federally protect our healthcare from being privatized.
and ban loblaws from being Around healthcare.
It’s easier to fight for what we have than it is to get it back once it’s gone.
this 1000%
My optometry was covered for up to $400/2 yrs through my job which is pretty standard (also garbage). I got lasik for $4k and my healthcare covered $25. How is that cheaper for them than $400 every 2 years for the rest of my life?
Also, fuck privatized healthcare and all the provincial governments that are making it harder for public healthcare.
Why is it only for some people and not universal?
It’s not bad, actually. It applies to:
- People who don’t already have existing dental insurance
- Families that make less than $90k/yr (which I think is higher than the median household income across the country)
This is probably (hopefully) a stopgap to prevent backlash from shortsighted (imo) employers and employees who had Dental and considered it a job perk.
Agree with other person that replied. Most people with healthcare through their job were already covered by basic plans (“job perk”). It’s fine I guess as long as our teeth are getting dealt with!
Would love to see optometry up here next.
