AKs and 7.62 are pretty cheap. especially if you buy Chinese and in bulk.
Even cheaper is a 9mm handgun, or a 12 guage shotgun. You dont need military grade gear for community defense, but a 200$ pump action shotgun + 10$ box of shells will put the fear of god into your local racist.
