German actually has the word “Ambulanz”, but it means “walk-in clinic”.
Which makes sense since ambulare = Latin to walk.
We also use that word to describe an ambulance, funnily enough.

Funny thing the Japanese still use the word kranker for patient while Germans use patient.

Don’t worry, Krankenwagen is just the colloquial term, the technical terms are even better.

Well yeah, countries that speak Romance languages use the Latin-derived word. English is the odd one out thanks to the French influence.
