Ah yes, Midgar from Final Fantasy 7!

Why, thanks for disseminating the queerphobic talking point that seeing queer people makes children require therapy, Mr. Wholesome-Pixar-Movie-Guy. (Yes, I know the statement can be read differently, but it resembles the right-wing’s narrative to a T, so there is no reason to assume he meant anything different.)

My pleathure!

It is. Jews had their drivers’ licences revoked and lost property rights to their cars on Dec 31th 1938.

That is a fair point on a personal level, but many people (myself included) appreciate a digested version of an official document and additional context for it provided by a journalistic article. Overall there is no reason to disbelief the detailed information provided in the article and assume that the reporter faked the document, unless someone wants to cast doubt on the unjustifiable treatment of trans people by the Trump government.

What is the advantage? The article explains the context much better than the PDF and contains a link to the document in the first paragraph.

I agree with you and the lineage is obvious when looking at how Steve Bannon pushed GamerGate at Breitbart and then went straight on to become Trump’s campaign manager.
And Bannon’s name missing from that article is one of the article’s major flaws, considering how much Bannon shaped the MAGA movement as a whole.

I agree with you that the community will survive, yet there are many who won’t.

First they removed language mentioning trans people, now they removed the rainbow flag and soon the entire monument will be gone. “First they came” and so on and so forth.

I know this is a hard pill to swallow for most people, but our conscious thoughts are not necessarily “ourselves”, even though they often get framed as such. We are the whole, the uncountable unconscious small machinations, as well as the big thoughts.
As somebody else mentioned: Reacting first and thinking about it later was most often advantageous for our ancestors. “Flee from the lion first and think about that was necessary later.”
But that does not mean that the process of arriving at the point of “Flee from the lion” isn’t individual and very much “ours”. It’s just the fastest part of our brain taking the lead and everything else following.

Lemmy truly is the “if you want something, do it yourself” platform. 😅

Sorry I don’t know if there is any such community on Lemmy.

Honestly, it is very much a “Why not both?” situation. Of course, Trump wants to distract from the Epstein files, but advancing the techno-fascist agenda is its own goal that is pursued by a lot of people in Trump’s orbit that do not care much about the Epstein files.

Yeah, people have to understand that right-wing politics considers science merely a tool to accumulate wealth and power. Thus right-wingers will not acknowledge that science pursues scientific truth, but rather insist that science that contradicts them must be a challenge to their interests that aims to embolden their political opponents and thus must be expunged.
I am also not particularly optimistic that it will change much, but nonetheless I respect the union and its member standing up for their principles.
