Please stop trying to ‘create the highest-quality entertainment products for this IP’ and go read a book instead
Return to Moria was pretty good. Not great in a vacuum as far as survival crafting games go, just alright, but the developers clearly love the setting and it was the most faithful adaptation of Tolkien dwarves I’ve seen – which is not easy given how little Tolkien wrote about his dwarves. That is to say, there was a bunch of game-original stuff in there, but it was well done.
Warhorse’s upcoming LotR RPG is also exciting but that’s probably like 5 years out at this point.
I feel the same way about Discworld. Recently, I saw a headline that was phrased something along the lines of “a perfectly good franchise is going to waste”. What a nauseating way to think - as if anything less than making some kind of multi-billion dollar media empire is squander.
It was not wasted. It had its moment. It was enjoyed by thousands, if not millions. It is complete.
