      People will always need oil even if we use 100% renewable energy, for stuff like plastic, asphalt and gazillion other things made out of crude

        that’s only in use because it’s cheap. it’s cheap because we use oil on such a massive scale. there are alternatives, and if we don’t need oil then plastics and asphalt would become far more expensive.

        byproducts are only cheap when they are byproducts
