What trajedy, i hate to see it, i know its happening, and yet i cant help but carry on with my day to day, compelled to work, so i can keep the house and food and safety of myself. Its an immense guilt. Ive thought about quiting my job and liquidating my stocks, and unbanking - starving the economic war machine of at least my self, and put me on a path that only the ones who commit can follow down - but then i thought about the reality of then being homeless, insuranceless, etc in the us, and its ever growing political instability - and i just cant choose that, and its aweful that i have to make that choice at all, and its a trajedy im not selfless enough to meaningfully help beyond just the invisible “thoughts and prayers”

If in 50 years im asked what i was doing during this time, im sure to dissapoint and be viewed as an enabler of these horrors

I dont like how that makes me feel, and i think its important that im uncomfortable, i hope it spurs change in myself - which then hopefully leads to change in the world

Realistically, what are your options? Protesting and being pepper sprayed, locked-up and fired from your job. That does not make their suffering any more endurable and it certainly won’t end it.

In my book, your behavior is morally at least neutral.

You could write letters and emails to your federal and state representatives expressing your opinions on this subject? Hell you could even send them links to the site from this post and sites like it. Then you could also help your friends and family come to the same opinion as you and help them write their own letters and emails.

Yeah like wtf is anyone supposed to do?

There are a lot of things that people can do and to make a change is easier than people believe. Something as simple as a million of people boycotting corporations and not using their services for a week would create a precedent so big and a chain reaction that could affect the entire economy. Governments and people in power spend billions to keep the system rigged as it is, every single little thing you do to make things better makes it harder for scum to keep on with their evil schemes.

How do we avoid being the Good Germans, who kept on baking while down the road they fed people to the ovens?

At what point does morality not only allow, but demand, we use violence against those enabling this?

The only thing that would really make a difference is if you somehow flew down there and helped prevent even one atrocity first hand. But that’s an insane thing to do, so the only option we have left is to feel powerlessly empathetic, like most global issues nowadays

For people that had been following the conflict and the injustices done to the people of Palestine, it was really surprising to see the crowd supporting Israel lose control of the narrative after october 7.

It was amazing how so many bottom up content creators were able to overrun the people at the top. I’m worried they will be able to get the cat into the bag again.

For example I did my part on Reddit, but with the recent overhaul there I’m out. Of course the take over of tiktok by Ellison is legendary, but there will always be alternatives as long as the whole internet hasn’t been turned into a draconian web of surveillance.

I know that conondrum, it is similar with lots of other geoworldpolitical fails, the climate crisis, poverment, human cruelty. I try to be a good person and also give away money i can spare. I cannot give everything up and join “letzte generation” and risk going to prison because of my family (in germany jailing protestors is on a completely different page). I want to partake some more in local politics, but i fear people still vote stupid.

I was thinking earlier this year, that it is immoral to pay taxes right now. The only thing that money goes towards is causing strife elsewhere. We have to take out loans to do anything useful or productive domestically.

      My take on it:

Hey don’t internalize the rot but spread communism and truth. Bear witness and spread the gospel of reality. Expose the two party system as the uniparty. Be easy my friend we are all in bondage in the imperial core. We should be able to smile. I didn’t do shit… no blood on my hands but still a slave in a capitalist system. More evidence that a revolution is the only way out of this. Also the same capitalist class that did this will do this to you and then you can play the role of hammas. We all will be forced to fight in the end. The USA has no more democratic levers to turn. The ruling class has given us no options but kinetic means. It is going to get worse in the USA which for me is a double edge sword. Justice will be served for sure.

For those who are scared to click the link, I have tried to find who they are and found this about:

Witnesses of Atrocities and Genocide We archive what others erase. Permanently.

We are a group of researchers dedicated to archiving war crimes footage from Gaza and the West Bank. Our team submits all evidence to the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Hind Rajab Foundation, and the South African legal team at the ICJ. If you’d like to contribute or join the effort, connect with us on Twitter or Telegram.

Tech companies are working overtime to censor and delete content from Gaza. We are doing our best to archive it before it disappears. You can browse the documented footage in the Archive, and download the complete raw source collections from the Downloads page.

In the sources, they link to various independent-looking channels and pages.
It’s hard to judge from this.

I’d like to see various reputable international newspaper (not all of them are controlled by the USA/Israel) confirm the quality of this work. In particular, how they confirm the authenticity of the documents, which is tremendous journalism work and not for the faint of heart.

Your skepticism is understandable and justified, but unfortunately it is precisely this skepticism that Israel knows how to exploit.

Not only does this criminal state invest billions in influencing public opinion—specifically targeting legacy media outlets believed to be reputable—but it also systematically kills journalists who attempt to provide independent reporting not controlled by Israel.

They are evidently pursuing a strategy so unscrupulous that it is absolutely unprecedented in recent human history. For obvious reasons, there are few reliable sources on this, but these older, scientifically collected data should give an impression of the sheer scale of the problem.

I’ll just copy a comment here that I posted more than a year ago—not the slightest thing has changed in the meantime; quite the contrary, since the U.S. continues to shield the criminal regime of Israel and thereby actively supports the genocide of the Palestinians:

Israel deliberately kills journalists, as evidenced by the fact that more journalists have been killed in Gaza in the last two years “than in the U.S. Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War (including the conflicts in Cambodia and Laos), the wars in Yugoslavia in the 1990s and 2000s, and the post-9/11 war in Afghanistan, combined”.

Edit: Fixed the link to the full paper as the url changed since my original comment.

Thanks for sharing. That’s horrifying, but important to see, understand, and preserve. The understanding that through no fault of their own, children, their parents, their friends, and family could be violently and inhumanely murdered on an industrial scale and every place they knew reduced to rubble is dread inducing and just too cruel for the empathy center of my brain to allow, even when my eyes, ears, and understanding tell me it’s true. It’s particularly disturbing when we look at history and see that this is not exactly an isolated or rare occurrence.

Shut up you twit. This is a genocide, it needs to be documented and the perpetrators held accountable.

What happens of hamas is a seperate matter, it does not detract away from a genocide.

Imo the things Hamas did over the years, which also hurt a lot of innocent people, where at worst trying to commit genocide on the Israelis. You are free to start a list where Hamas is exposed.

Unlike Hamas, the government of Israel is succesful in systematically displacing and murdereing Palestinians in Gaza and is allowing Israeli citizens to do the same in the West Bank while the population is supporting that. Ergo, Israel is committing a genocide. The intention of the website seems to be to collect evidence of that. They do need to do what “we need”, they are free to do what they need (= evidence on what Israel does). If this ever ends in front of a judge ‘but they did x’ will not be a valid argument for killing innocent people on a close to industrial scale.

Your response is equivalent to “all lives matter” and says one of two things:

      1. You’re misinformed and truly believe what you’re saying.
      2. You’re a bad actor intentionally attempting to distract from systemic genocide.

      Which is it?

Why would it list anything about hamas? Hamas is constantly covered by mainstream media. It’s literally classified as a terrorist organization. Everybody knows it’s bad.

This is about covering the other side - the one that is not covered by mainstream media. Also, many of hamas’ crimes are just Israel’s crimes anyway. Israel has been funding and supplying hamas for decades, probably in order to have an excuse for the genocide in Palestine.

I don’t think anyone is saying there is good guys, I think it’s just really fucking evil guys, bad guys, and thousands of civilians targeted for torture and murder.
