A €286 7-day interrail pass will get you what should be a stress-free round-trip from Tallin to Milan (via Zurich, so very much taking a train through the alps) with time to ride around the alps as much as you want.
My tickets earlier this year were only €30 each way. Sure it would be expensive to supercommute by high speed train, but for a day trip into the city to go hit a couple of museums that’s perfectly reasonable
Sub in with whatever your local nice place is for a similar effect. For me it’s forests, some cool little mountains, and train yards with lots of interesting graffiti
Very few Europeans can afford to take a train through the alps
Have you heard of interrail? Basically every european can afford to take a train through the alps, it’s not even remotely an expensive vacation.

So for a family of 4, that’s 1.144 EUR, just for transportation. Not including food or lodging.
And you think everyone can afford that in Europe?

What percent of the European population lives a few hours from the Alps via train?
Bruh you’re just moving the goalposts and intentionally misunderstanding the point. Take the L (or even take the L) and move on
Nah. Trains are great, but my point is that not every European has the quality of life (wealth/income) as Western Europeans.
Lots of people don’t understand that.
